A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of the late William G. "Bill" Stewart. Jr.

WHEREAS, Bill Stewart was born on February 19, 1942, in Frankfort, Kentucky, the son of William G. and Mildred S. Stewart, and departed this earthly life on October 14, 2005. He was employed by the Kentucky State Police from 1968 until his retirement in 1999 as Chief Engineer, Division of Technical Services, Communications Branch. During his outstanding career, Mr. Stewart was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Kentucky Emergency Warning System, which has become a model for other states since its implementation in 1980. In addition, Bill Stewart also served as an instructor at the Kentucky State Police Academy, teaching hundreds of state troopers in the proper use of radar and communication equipment. He also served honorably as a 1st Lieutenant with the 103rd Signal Corps of the Kentucky National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart, an avid motorcyclist, completely restored his 1973 Honda 750, and spent countless hours customizing and riding his beloved 100th Anniversary Edition Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of the Kentucky State Police Retirees, a 32-year member of the Frankfort Elks Lodge #530, and a member of the First Christian Church of Frankfort, where he was active in the Keenager's Group; and

WHEREAS, Bill Stewart was preceded in death by his father, William G. Stewart, Sr., and is survived by his loving wife, Diana Wilson Stewart, and their son, James Michael Stewart; his mother, Mildred S. Stewart; and two brothers, Reading Clerk of the House of Representatives, Richard W. "Butch" Stewart, and Robert H. "Bob" Stewart;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. It is with heartfelt condolences to his family and friends that the House of Representatives observes the passing of William G. "Bill" Stewart, Jr., and extends to them our sincere prayers for solace and peace.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of the late Bill Stewart, and in celebration of a life well lived.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to our Reading Clerk, Butch Stewart, for presentation to the family of William G. "Bill" Stewart.
