Job Description

Post: Marketing and Communications Manager – Red Rose Forest

Salary scale: £26,539 to £29,528 pro rata

Reporting to: Operations Manager – Red Rose Forest

Responsible for: Any dedicated marketing/communications staff (voluntary or paid)

Hours: 21 hours 36 minutes per week (additional hours subject to funds generated)

Contract: Fixed term for 12 months (renewal subject to funds generated)

Main purpose of the job

To co-ordinate marketing, sponsorship/corporate fundraising and communications activities for Red Rose Forest /Community Forest Trust including;

·  Leading on marketing and securing sponsorship including helping to develop a stronger marketing/ sponsorship culture within the Forest Team. Achieve commercial sponsorship target of £100k pa.

·  Providing comprehensive communications support including providing an effective online presence through websites and social media

·  Overseeing all aspects of design and brand in relation to publications, displays etc

Main duties and responsibilities

1 Marketing and sponsorship

1.1 Take the lead in developing a stronger marketing and sponsorship based business culture for the Forest Team including through the early identification and development of projects/programmes suitable for securing commercial and other sponsorship.

1.2 Develop cost effective marketing approaches to secure

sponsorship for Red Rose Forest/CFT through close liaison with

CFT’s Marketing and Fundraising Manager and the rest of the

Forest Team. Annual commercial sponsorship target of £100k

pa.

1.3 Work with project staff to further explore and develop

Crowdfunding and other local fundraising mechanisms for locally

based projects.

2 General Communications Support

Promote Red Rose Forest through:

2.1 Website and internet

o  Content management

o  Website development including liaison with developers

o  Coordinating social networking input and presence

2.2 Press and media work

o  Writing and distributing press releases and articles

o  Being the first point of contact for all media related enquiries and following up press enquiries

o  Liaising with and booking photographers, organising and attending photo calls and ensuring necessary consent for use of images is secured

o  Coordinating the participation of local politicians and partners in marketing and media activities

2.3 Print, publications and other PR & marketing materials

o  Managing the design, production and distribution of PR and marketing resources including print and publications

o  Copywriting and proof-reading

o  Liaising as required with designers, printers and photographers

o  Assisting in the organisation and production of any displays/exhibitions

2.4 Events

o  Coordinating events as required of various sizes, including bookings, speakers etc.

Project Communications & PR Support

3.1 Liaise with project officers from the Forest Team to support and implement the marketing needs of their projects including the development of project communication guidelines

3.2 Act as a first point of contact for project officers’ media activity

4 Communications Development & Management

4.1 Manage corporate communications by:

·  Reviewing, developing (if required) and implementing the corporate communications and visual identity guidelines

·  Developing and implementing a simple communications plan for

the Forest

4.2 Develop, coordinate and manage appropriate and efficient

administrative systems for delivery of marketing, sponsorship

and media activity by:

4.3 Developing and maintaining filing and monitoring systems

4.4 Developing and maintaining mailing and distribution lists with

reference to audience development work

4.5 Building, coordinating and organising the photo library

4.6 Coordinating and managing the small marketing and communications budget

5 Other Duties

5.1 To work with the Forest Team to contribute to the development of future project ideas for sponsorship, marketing and media and to participate in special projects and ad-hoc assignments as required

5.2 To undertake informal and formal training as agreed
