September 9, 2008

  1. Call to order and welcome – Karen Gelenites and Cami Konecky – 7:40pm.
  1. Membership – Tammy Minsky; all families will have membership for free this school year.
  1. Minutes – Jeri Fitzgerald; minutes from the June meeting were approved.
  1. Treasurer’s Report –please contact Filona Leechow, PTA Treasurer, Karen Gelenites or Cami Konecky, PTA Co-Presidents for further information.
  1. Correspondence – Thank you from Mrs. D’Anna for the planting of the beautiful plant in her honor. Thank you from Nancy Goldenstein for the flowers and gift.
  1. EZ Lunch Demo – a demo of the EZ Lunch website was presented.
  1. Committee Reports
  2. Lunch – Karen Wood - Café Foozy will be providing lunch this year; a sampling of their food was presented.
  3. Apparel – Linda Pauwels – samples of the new apparel will be available at Back to School Night.
  4. Buzz Book – all forms are due September 15; distribution will be some time in October.
  5. Open Committees – Cami Konecky – several committees are in need of chairs and volunteers; a list will be published in an upcoming WWB.

  2. Budget – the new budget was presented and approved.
  3. Family Night in October – will be moved inside the school.
  4. PTA Attendance – to help increase attendance, suggestions were made to host a movie night in the upper gym, supervised by parents, and to have the meetings begin at 7pm.
  5. Parents were asked to submit suggestions for guest speakersfor the monthly PTA meetings.

  1. Comments from Mrs. Pilchman

Mrs. Pilchman thanked everyone for coming. There is a new state mandate for dismissal procedures. Please make sure to update the STARS website. Changes were made to the attendance process as it relates to excused and unexcused absences. When phoning the Call for Safety line, please indicate the reason your child will be absent. A new form called Request for Approval of Extraordinary Opportunity must be completed for extended absences and is available on the school website. Coffee and conversation with Mrs. Pilchman will take placed twice this school year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
