Grand Knight’s Report
First I want to again thank all those who have helped with the Fund Raisers and the other activities the council has been doing during the past month. Our next fundraiser is Saturday, May 30th at the corner of River Oaks Blvd and Roberts Cut Off. This will be the last fund raiser during this fraternal year. And the money collected will be used to help set next year’s budget. At the meeting on Tuesday, May 12th, nominations will be accepted for next year’s officers. We will also be considering a dues increase which would take effect January 1, 2016. We will be setting a date for Officer Installation in June. Fourth Degree will be having their Officer Installation on Friday, June 19th.
Congratulations to our new Third Degree Knights. Father Sushil Tudu and Mike Martinez who received their Second and Third Degrees on April 18th in Keller. Matt Hames and I will be going to the State Convention in Houston May 1-3rd.
Thanks to Lynn Sperry for updating our webpage and social media. Also, thanks to Lynn for helping to resolve our membership roster problems.
We will have a report at the May 12th meeting concerning the State Conference.
Special Olympics will be in Arlington on May 21-24th at UTA Stadium. There is a First Degree for May 9th in Keller. Remember if you have candidates, give them a Form 100, and give their names to John Dugan.
I would really like for us to have a social activity for Knights and their family during the next couple of months and I am open to suggestions.

Notes for the next meeting
We are proposing a dues increase from $37 to $44 per year for Knights 18 to 60 years of age. Knights over 60 can request a reduced rate of $37 if they are retired or on a fixed income. Dues are supposed to pay for our administrative expenses such as the $29 per member that goes to the K of C Supreme headquarters. Presently, even with the proposed $7 increase our dues will pay only about two thirds of our admin expenses. Dues are supposed to pay all of our admin expenses so that our fundraising goes entirely for our charitable work. We know our council is not rich, so some of our fundraising goes to pay for part of the dues. With this in mind we hope you will vote for the increase
Council Officer Nominations will take place at the May 12th council meeting and Elections will take place at the June 9th council meeting. Only members who are in good standing and who are Third Degree members are eligible to hold an office. Anyone interested in holding an office should contact one of the Trustees.
All 1st Degree prospects will need to have a meeting with the Council Admissions Committee prior to attending any 1st Degree ceremony bringing them into our Council. The Council Admissions Committee is comprised of the Deputy Grand Knight and Trustees
Thought for May
Who else is there? Sometimes when we are feeling low and need help and inspiration, the 6th chapter in the Gospel of John has a good thought. When Jesus told of the necessity to “Eat His Body and drink His Blood” it chased away many of his followers. It sounded terrible to them because they didn’t understand.. When Jesus asked his Apostles if they too wanted to leave, Peter gave a wonderful inspiring answer…Lord, to whom should we go? You have the words of eternal life.” There is no one else. Mohammed, Buddha, and Confucius have no words of eternal life. We are on our way to Heaven, to eternal life. Our present life is often a trial. But Peter’s words remind us that Jesus is our main hope and comfort. . If,during the day, we stop and think sometimes of His great Love for us then it can help and comfort us.
