  4. The first meeting of 11BR has occurred and assignments have been made. This is being worked to correct problems with the document (for industry) and to align it with the new API 11B. Expect that the document will be ready for ballot by the middle of 2011.
  1. Report / Update from Bert Dijkhuis with regards to ISO activities. Bert Dijkhuis

There are about 20 projects inISO/TC67/SC4/WG4. The documents are under various stages of revision. The WG is looking for new subjects. There are two projects for SSSVs up for revision. There are 3 new projects (drive strings for PCP [tied to API SC11], the ESP document [tied to API SC11] and completion accessories [tied to API SC19]).

Discussions centered on the use of the 11S documents. With the lack of progress on the API side and quick development on the ISO side, there is a potential for a large gap being generated. There is concern that there may not be compatible documents (ISO and API).

Action Item: SC11 Chair to approach the 11S Suite revision chair and discuss the status of the document revisions in order to ensure that activity commences immediately.

Action Item: SC11 Chair to approach those people interested in the revision of API 11S-suite of documents to determine if one or several would be willing to take on the revision of the documents as chair(s).

Action Item: SC11 Chair to approach the ISO 15551 project lead to determine how the API documents are intended to be used in the ISO document.

ISO/TC67/SC4/WG4 was given the task to develop a new standard on well integrity for the production phase (exclusive of the drilling phase). If there is interest in becoming a participant on this standard, ISO will welcome input.

  1. Report/Updates from task groups

  1. 11AX Revision–Benny Williams

The WG is making progress on the revision of the document. Meeting scheduled for the 1st week of August in Midland, TX. Scope of the document changed to include verification of materials. Adding proposed 12 new products that would be eligible for Monogramming. The WG is looking at the dimensions of existing products. The WG is considering mid 2011 as the target date for the document to be ready for ballot. WG is to look at this timeline in January 2011 to see if the document.

  1. 11B Revision – Benny Williams

Document published and will be effective in November 2010. There are two errata that have been identified and will be issued soon. There are some tolerance differences to allow for a wider face make-up. These are intentional changes.

  1. 11G Revision – David Doyle

Most of the work is being done with a small number of individuals. There is input from BP and other companies, but most of the work is internal to Lufkin. The WG is adding structural bearings and lubrication (including the possibility of synthetic greases), wireline maintenance, v-belt maintenance, brake system maintenance, structural bolted joints, isolation restraint (lock-out/tag-out). Some of the safety issues may need to be brought to the front of the document. The document title may change to include “maintenance”. Target date is late 2010 for having a document ready for ballot.

  1. 11S Suite of RPs – Norm Hein

No report submitted. The SC11 chair will approach the WG chair to determine the status of the documents.

  1. Proposed Revision of API Spec 11E – David Doyle/Darrell Copsey

There is a proposed Annex K to the document on double circular arc gearing submitted by China. There have been difficult times in getting information from China on the source documents of the proposal. There was no other person/organization that has been approached to provide clarification on this document. There has been no additional information provided, so the chair of the WG proposes that this activity be discontinued. When additional information is provided, the SC will entertain re-activating the project based on the submission of a new work item proposal.

Furthermore, with API 11E, there have been discussions on including metric units in the document. The WG created a parallel document with just metric units and track it through the entire document. The question was what to do with the metric-based document. Should there be two different documents (one in SI units and one in USC units) or should there be just one document with everything in one combined document? The SC decided to proceed with the development of one unified document at this time. A final decision will be made at the next SC meeting as to what needs to be done with the document.
