“WALK IN THE SON” CAMPOREE
INFORMATION SHEET
GENERAL
Registration fee covers all retreat materials, patch, snacks, lunch and dinner Saturday, Sunday continental breakfast, facility use fees, EMA fees and camping fees (if applicable).
A permission slip/release formsigned by parent/guardian is requiredfor each participant and must be presented by leader/parentat check-in. This is required even if a parent is in attendance.
Two-deep leadership is required at all times. If there are more than 10 youth in your unit attending, a ratio of 1 adult to every 5 youth must be maintained. Girl Scouts must follow Safety Wise ratios.
The buddy system should always be used.
Scouts/leadersshould wearfield (Class A)/dress uniform for Mass, closing ceremonies and if in the flag ceremony.Activity (Class B) uniforms should be worn at other times.
Bring water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Water bottles are refillable on site.
Scout leaders need to follow Safety Check Points and BSA policies concerning the administration of medication. Please remember that medicine that is brought to camp needs to be in the original container. In case of prescription medication, a legible label indicating the name of the medicine and dosage instructions etc. must be affixed to the container. The leader/parent is responsible for administering medication and storing it securely.
There will be a First Aider available at camp however units/families should be prepared to take care of most medical issues. Scouts and leaders should have their own first aid kits.
If you have a scout that has a special need, please contact us in advance. There is limited access to some facilities but we will make every effort to try and make accommodations.
All Heard Scout Pueblo rules and regulations are to be followed. The rules are posted on our website.
Absolutely no passengers in the back of trucks or on trailers.
No pets are allowed.
No alcoholic beverages of any kind are allowed at any time.
Smoking is only allowed in designated area near Registration Ramada when scouts are not present.
There will be a “Trading Post” with some religious items and snacks available for purchase.
CAMPERS
Units mayarrive after 4:30 PM on Friday, March 24 and check out by 11 AM on Sunday, March 26
Units/families/scouts must provide their own tents, camping equipment and camp chairs.
Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast arenot provided.
Cooking and campfires in designated fire ring at campsite are allowed (unless there is a “no-burn” restriction). One campfire per campsite. Do not leave fires unattended. Put fires out cold.
Bring your own firewood. Water is available at each site.
There will be separate campsites for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts/AHG and families.
Your unit/family will be assigned a campsite and escorted there after check-in.
Quiet hours are to be observed from 10 pm to 6 am.
Showers are available in the pool areaif necessary.
All Heard Scout Pueblo rules/regulations are to be followed. Please refer to the documenton our website. Make special note of rules related to parking, climbing, certain electronics etc.
We will not be using the pool, COPE course, Rifle or Archery Ranges during the retreat.
Additional hikesby a unit or family can be carried out after checking out with Retreat Staffon Sunday morning.Units/families are covered by their respective insurance policies.
