Dear WyldLife Parents,
We are so excited for your son or daughter to be going to Windy Gap with us this coming weekend (Feb 17th - Feb 19th). We have a very large trip this year and we are going to need your help to make everything run smoothly. Please read this email all the way through.
If you are receiving this email and your child cannot go to camp please contact us immediately. We have a waitlist and would love to take kids off of the waitlist and get them signed up and can only do so if we know who is definitely going to camp. If you don't let us know prior to Wednesday (Feb 15th) about them dropping from the trip you will not receive your deposit back, because we are now financially obligated to pay the camp for that spot.
Windy Gap is a Young Life camp in Weaverville, North Carolina. Before we arrive to Windy Gap on Friday night we will be taking cell phones and electronics from your middle school students and locking them up safely. Prior to taking phones/electronics, your child will be instructed to call or text you to inform you of our arrival. We will return phones/electronics when we get back on the bus Sunday. If there is an emergency, and you need to reach your son or daughter, you are welcome to call my phone at (704) 779-4433, and I will get you in contact with your son or daughter. Or you are welcome to call Windy Gap, (828) 645-7187. Please feed your child dinner before getting on the bus, because we will not be able to stop on the way down.
Health Form/Remaining Balance for Camp
Attached to this email is a health form that you will need to turn in prior to departure because we will have over 100 kids at the bus drop off. You can give the form to a leader or you can drop it at our King street office (703 West King, Suite 105).
Again, because of the number of kids going to camp, we are asking that you get your remaining balance in prior to the day of camp. You can pay online, from Tuesday to Friday, (www.highcountry.younglife.org), or give to a leader to turn in, or drop it by the Young Life office. If you need to know your remaining balance please let us know.
Departure/Return
We will be leaving this Friday night (2/17) from:
Watauga: Boone Mall: (JC Penny corner) at 5:30 pm
***(If you need to pay or turn in a health form we are asking you to show up at 5:00pm so we have everything in order.)
Avery: Avery Middle Lower Lot at 6:15pm
***(If you need to pay or turn in a health form we are asking you to show up at 5:45pm so we have everything in order.)
We will be returning on Sunday afternoon (2:30 at Avery, 3:00 at Boone Mall). Upon boarding the bus, your child will be given their electronics back and will be able to give you a more accurate estimated time of arrival on Sunday.
Packing List:
-Sleeping Bag or Twin Sheets- Blanket and pillow are provided.-Athletic/Warm Clothes (gloves, hats, scarves)
-Shoes/clothes for messy games that can be thrown away after
-Swimsuit/ Extra Towel (Hot Tub will be open for those that choose to swim
-Towel
-Toiletries (i.e. Shampoo, Soap, Toothbrush/Paste, etc.)
-Sleeping Bag or Twin Sheets- Blanket and pillow are provided.
-Money (Optional: For Snacks and Gift shop)
-Calling Card (Optional: Windy Gap does have a payphone for campers to use)
*Electronic devices (ipod, mp3, CD, DVD players and cell phones) will be allowed on the bus, but will be collected and stored while at camp.
