Developing Listening Skills Activity

Read the following story to your class. Ask them to listen carefully because they will need to recall information from the story.

Mr. Ames, a banker, had just turned off the building lights when a taxi sounded its horn. Grabbing his briefcase, he ran down several flights of stairs and out into the street, waving frantically. No one was there, so he went to the nearest telephone to call a cab. He fished in his pockets, looking for a quarter.

Get each student a question handout and have them answer each question either as TRUE or FALSE. Discuss each answer and then have students raise hand to see how many each missed. If they missed five or more questions then they need to improve their listening skills.
