CCL Summer Intern Application

The Centennial Center for Leadership is seeking to hire a Hobart or William Smith student for Summer 2016. The intern will serve in a dual role. First, the Intern will assist in the planning and development of CCL programming for the 2016-2017 academic year. The Intern will be responsible for various duties such as researching, editing, designing, collaborating and communicating about new and existing programming. Additionally, the intern will work the front desk, manage the leadership libraryand meet with other campus and community representatives. There is also a potential for facilitation opportunities, as well as research for publications.

Second, the intern will develop a self-designed leadership project to be completed over the summer months. During the interview stage, candidates must outline an idea for a project that offers an opportunity for leadership experience and make a positive impact on the community. Projects can range from research projects, service work, community development, entrepreneurial initiatives, etc. The intern is expected to commit several hours a week to their independent project. Funding is available for the project. Milestones will be mapped out in advance.

Qualifications:

The CCL summer intern position is open to all HWS students.The successful canidate will:

  • Be available for the entirety of Summer 2016, June 1st – mid August
  • Be an energetic, passionate individual who can contribute to a collaborative working environment
  • Be in good academic and social standing at the Colleges
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Be well organized and have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Have the ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • Have some experience with/be prepared to use Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and HWS Library Databases
  • Have an initimate knowledge of CCL programming and initiatives
  • Attention to detail is imperative. Creativity, resourcefulness, and the capactiy to take initiative are important
  • Proficient in using social media

Additional Information:

This is a paid internship with approximately 30 hours of work per week at a rate of $9.00 an hour. Some nights and weekends may be required. The CCL’s summer intern will be provided housing through the HWS Summer Housing program.
