3.0A Brief Introduction to the Supplier Support Committee
3.1Cindy Roth presented information on the Supplier Support Committee that included the mission, position in the Nadcap structure and contact information. (See attached presentation).
4.0Nadcap Status Update – Arshad Hafeez presented information to suppliers on the status of new Task Groups, number of Nadcap audits performed to date, updated Prime matrix, and recent developments with AECMA-PRO. (See attached presentation).
5.0European Regional Advisory Board (EU RAB) – Seema Saleem presented information on the EU RAB, including the groups’ mission, objectives and membership. (See attached presentation).
6.0SSC Initiatives Derived from Supplier Survey- Jim Borczyk presented information on the status of actions that arose from the September 2003 supplier survey. (See attached presentation).
7.0Nadcap Quality Systems –Chris Diepenbrock (Boeing) reviewed Nadcap Quality System requirements and changes made to NOP-002.
7.1A question was raised regarding the lack of reference to EN or JIS standards as only AS is mentioned and Chris Diepenbrook conceded the point.
8.0New Business
8.1Jim Borczyk invited comment from Arne Logan (Boeing) and Chet Date (Honeywell) on their views of Prime support of the SSC.
8.1.2Arne Logan repeated that this is an industry-managed program. Primes cannot do business without the support of their supplier base so we must all be engaged with this activity in order to do business. The SSC exists to raise issues, not concerning individual supplier problems, but to improve the process. It is an important committee and needs supplier input to make it work together.
8.1.3 Chet Date agreed, emphasising that Suppliers can talk to the SSC or to Prime representatives individually. Chet remindedall Suppliers that the Primes will listen to input, and encouraged all Suppliers to become involved in the process.
8.1.4 Jim Borczyk confirmed that the SSC has been energetic under Arne Logan (Boeing) and the momentum will continue under Chet Date (Honeywell). He explained to Suppliers that the SSC Group is the forum to voice opinions and suggestions on the Nadcap process. If Suppliers have any issues, they should address them in an emailto the following parties:Jim Borczyk (PRI-US), Seema Saleem (PRI-Europe)
or Cindy Roth (or any other SSC Leadership Member).
8.2Jerry Wahlin (AAA Plating & Inspection Inc): PRI use to perform gap analyses. At the last Nadcap meeting in Tempe, the NMC voted to end this practice due to potential conflicts of interest. It should be noted that this could be valuable for new suppliers.
Action: Jim Borczyk invited Jerry Wahlin to prepare the proposal for the NMC to review in July. It must be stressed that no gap audits are currently being performed, at the request of the Primes. The final decision will be taken by the NMC. Jim Borczyk will work with Jerry Wahlin on this issue.
8.3Ryan Soule (Howmet): Ryan attends open NDT Task Group meetings and believes that Task Groups need a structure to encourage supplier interaction in the meetings.
Action: A proposal to the SSC is requested to provide more detail of the Task Group discussion forum format and this will be reviewed. Ryan Soule nominated as Chairman of the group preparing the proposal.
9.0Jim Borczyk introduced Julio Perez (Airbus) as one of the Prime hosts for the European meeting and asked for comments on the discussions so far.
9.1Julio Perez explained that the entire process has impressed him, especially Nadcap procedures, adding only that European suppliers have now received a clear message from their European Primes. Their hope now is to increase and improve European participation in the SSC.
9.2Jim Borczyk invited any other comments but there were none. An invitation was extended to all attendees to come to the next SSC meeting in July.
10.0Jim Borczyk put forward a motion to close the meeting, which was approved. Meeting was adjourned at 6:50pm.
