Part-II.) Special Note:

·  The transition of Fire Chief has begun, an informal transition will take place the first week of May. A memo will follow on the date of transition to the staff and board.

·  Our progress with the Nexus Study is ongoing, our five year report and Nexus Study will go to the board of Supervisors on June 7th. It is anticipated our board will need to sign an indemnity agreement with the package, if that is the case, I have arranged for staff from the CAO’s Office to present the agreement to our board. Obviously any document I receive prior will go to the board and our attorney for comment. I am hopeful we can have the Nexus Study completed by the fiscal year end.

·  We are working on the preliminary budget and will have the draft for review to the finance committee early in May. The final preliminary budget will be complete for the June board meeting and will meet our requirements for submittal.

·  We have received our second lump sum of property tax revenues and are on target to meet and or exceed budget projections.

Part-III.) Personnel:

·  It is anticipated the CERT Team will go live by May 8th. We are waiting on vests from the printer and expect them around May 8th. The three AED’s we purchased should arrive by the end of May.

·  We hired six new Reserve Volunteer Firefighters and will be having an orientation academy May 23-27th.

·  Firefighter Paramedic Juan Ascencio has completed his Paramedic Training and with that, has been successful in his probation with the agency.

Part-IV.) Buildings & Grounds:

·  We are awaiting bids to replace the damaged water supply system. Once received, we will submit to the insurance company. All the wood from the large tree was donated to the Pioneer Church.

·  We had two large trees behind the barracks at station 38 that were affecting our internet service. In addition, they were deemed unsafe by Foothill Tree Service. After issues with the internet, CAL-NET (our internet provider) had the trees taken down. This saved this district roughly $7000 and increased the internet speed significantly.

Part-V.) Fire Apparatus:

·  Engine 338 went to International in West Sacramento for warranty work and is expected to return by the end of May.

Part-VI.) El Dorado County Fire Chief’s Association & County JPA:

·  There was a large discussion on restoration of the “Aid to Fire Funding” at the meeting. We have submitted all requested items to the CCFD and are hopeful to get some assistance to keep Station 31 Operational.

·  The other main topic was the large amount of dead trees in the County due to the drought. The county in coordination with the Chiefs Association are working on Maps and a Mitigation Plan to inform the community. Once these documents are available, we will work on getting them posted to our website.

Part-VII.) Miscellaneous:

·  Actuaries from PERS have been received and are being reviewed by staff as well as an outside third party, I will be scheduling informal meetings to go over these documents with employees and board members.

·  The new engine is still on schedule for July delivery.

·  We ordered some hose and equipment for the KME Engine it should arrive shortly.
