Showmanship
Exhibitors will be selected for a Call Back Showmanship Class based on their performance in their respective classes. Throughout the show exhibitors will be given a “Call Back Card”. At the conclusion of the various species shows we will conduct the Call Back Class for each age Jr., Jr. High, and Sr. High. This process will speed the show along greatly and reinforce the need to show the animal and not themselves.

Livestock General Guidelines
TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
DIVISION OF ANIMAL INDUSTRIES
SUMMARY: Livestock Health Requirements for Fairs & Exhibitions
I.GENERAL:
A. All stalls, pens, chutes, etc. located on the grounds of fairs and exhibitions shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with a disinfectant approved by USDA, APHIS before accepting livestock.
B. All livestock which enter fairs and exhibitions shall be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspections with individual permanent identification or sufficient description to identify each animal.
C. No animal which shows clinical signs of infectious or communicable disease shall be allowed to enter or remain on premises of fairs and exhibitions. It shall be the responsibility of the manager of each event to assure prompt removal of such animals.
II.LIVESTOCK ORIGINATING WITHIN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection Valid for a Period of Ninety (90) days)
A.SWINE:
1) Breeding Swine:
(a) 90 day negative test for Pseudorabies, or
(b) Originate from Qualified Negative Pseudorabies Herd, and
(c) If four (4) months of age or older, negative test for brucellosis within ninety (90) days or originate directly from a Validated Brucellosis-Free Herd.
(2) Feeding Swine: No pseudorabies requirements for Tennessee origin feeder pigs.
(3) Requirement (1) above, shall not apply to events where all swine on the premises are exhibited in slaughter classes only and are consigned to slaughter upon leaving the event.
B.CATTLE:
All cattle shall be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. Brucellosis Testing is no longer required.
C.SHEEP: Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and meet the requirements of the scrapie program.
D.GOATS: Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and meet the requirements of the scrapie program. Brucellosis testing is no longer required.
Attention: It is important for anyone showing sheep or goats understand and comply with the USDA/APHIS Scrapie Program requirements.
•All intact males (bucks, rams) and females (ewes, does) that show must have approved ear tags (or acceptable alternative). This must be done in accordance with the guidelines provided by USDA Animal Health and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS).
•Wethers are exempt. Wethers may be shown at EXPO without Scrapie Program ear tags.

RULES
- Competition in this show is limited to District I 4-H members and West TN FFA members.
- 4-H and FFA members are required to have been enrolled in the fourth grade on January 1 of the current calendar year in order to be eligible to exhibit in this show and will become ineligible at the end of the calendar year following their graduation from high school or upon their 20th birthday, whichever comes first.

RULES
- Animals must be in place no later than 8:00 a.m. Weigh in will close at 9:00 a.m. The show will start at 9:00 a.m. and animals will be released at the conclusion of the show.
- There will be two (2) divisions of goats shown: market goats and breeding does. Any breed or crossbreed of goat can show in the Market Show and will be shown by weights. There will be no minimum weight. Each exhibitor is limited to four (4) animals for show with a maximum of two animals per class.
- Wether kids must not exhibit any testicular tissue. Animals having this will be dismissed. No bucks or billies will be in or around the barn area.
- Wether kids and doe kids must have all milk teeth at weigh-in. Wethers not having them will be dismissed and does will be moved to yearling doe classes.
- All goats must have horns tipped or horns can be cushioned with a material to help prevent injury to exhibitor.
- All goats must have some type of identification (ear tag in either left or right ear.) Tags tied to a collar is not acceptable.
7.All goats will be weighed and classes divided by weight in each of the three divisions of the market show. (ex. If there are 40 lightweight market goats we will divide this class in to two separate classes.)
JUNIOR BEEF HEIFER SHOW

1. Open to non-registered heifers of any breed or combination of breeds.
2. Heifers shown in the commercial heifer show are not eligible to show in the registered heifer show.

JUNIOR MARKET STEER SHOW
Show immediately following the Commercial Heifer Show
between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Scales will close at 11:00 AM.
- Steers must be accompanied by an official certificate of veterinary inspection.
- Steers will be weighed and divided into classes by weight. There will be NO minimum weight requirement.
JUNIOR BREEDING SHEEP SHOW

- Only junior exhibitors will be allowed to enter and show. There will be a breeding animal showmanship. Only exhibitors who are entered in the breeding show are eligible to participate.
- The show is open to registered ewes with a maximum of two lambs per class.
- Ewes shown in Market Classes are not eligible for the Breeding Classes.
- Animals in Lamb Classes must have lamb teeth.
- Breed divisions will be offered to the four breeds with the largest representation and an all other breeds division.

5.Lambs will be weighed and divided into classes by weight and breed.
6.There will be a market lamb/commercial ewe showmanship. Only exhibitors entered in the market lamb/commercial ewe are eligible for the call back class of showmanship.
COMMERCIAL EWE SHOW
(Following Market Lamb Show)1. Open to non-registered ewes of any breed or combination of breeds.
2. Ewes shown in the commercial ewe show are not eligible to show in
either the registered ewe show or the market lamb show.
3. Exhibitor may show a maximum of 2 yearling ewes and 2 ewe lambs.

3. The show is open to registered gilts with a maximum of two gilts per class.
4. Gilts shown in Breeding Classes are not eligible for the Market Classes.
5. Breed divisions will be offered to the three breeds with the largest representation and an all other breeds division.

- Hogs must be accompanied by an official certificate of veterinary inspection.
- Hogs will be weighed and divided into classes by weight. There will be NO minimum weight requirement.
- Animals may be either gilts or barrows.
MATT BARNES PREMIER STOCKMAN
OBJECTIVE
The objective is to recognize youth livestock exhibitors that display excellence in selection, growing, fitting, and showing of beef cattle, swine, sheep and goats.
AWARD
The Rod Barnes family will annually donate an engraved silver tray to be awarded to the winner.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The winner will be selected from the exhibitors at the Blue and Gold Show. Their total score for this award will be based on their placing in the showmanship competition of each of the four species and the placing of their two highest placing animals in each species. Points will be awarded to a maximum of 2 animals per species.
Example:1st in a class of 10 beef heifers = 10 points
1st place in a class of 2 beef heifers = 2 points
3rd place in a class of 6 goats = 4 points
