An unexplained entry: Aaron was called George Sherman [born 1794] and Mahala called Charlotte Merrill [born 1813] in son George's 1925 death record.

1849. May 21st, Mahala petitioned for deed, value of $400; beneficiaries were Mahala, Charles, Eliza, Levi, Horace (WAY/PR v2no1613).

1849. Jan 4th, Mahala Sherman age 36 of Dearborn Twp Wayne Co married 3rd Joseph E Williams age 36 of Redford MI Wayne Co; married by J B Wallace JP, no witnesses given (WAY/MR file 1849). In 1995 the living family of Mahala believes this marriage is of a different Mahala (mc/ww; mc/tdm). Charles A Sherman of Owosso, Civil War veteran, 77, who was born in Wayne Co, and who lived in Saginaw many years before coming to Owosso 24 years ago, is dead at this (sic) home here. He leaves a widow and five grown children (Muskegon Chronicle Oct 28 1914, from Family Tree Talk v25n3p67 Sep 1998).
