Biography Mrs Roz Holland(UK)

My life has always been interwoven with dogs and horses, beginning with family pets, then becoming involved with working Lurchers, moving on through training with Boxers and German Shepherds, voluntary work in a Greyhound racing kennels, trimming and grooming as a sideline to my first employment as a Veterinary Nurse, up to the present day where I am lucky enough to have a successful show kennel of Whippets.

My husband gave me the gift of a silver fawn Whippet puppy bitch, who won best puppy, best of breed, best hound, and reserve best in show on her first outing aged 7 months – I was hooked! She went on to win a CC and 2 reserves. Through her I learnt a lot about the show scene and piloted our first home bred bitch to her title, Ch Elmanash Signorinetta. Our showing was somewhat curtailed whilst raising our family and attaining success with our Arab horses. However, we have consistently been in the placings at Championship level, winning many stud book numbers despite strong competiton in classes with up to 30 entries, making up another Champion last year, Ch Elmanash Major General, who also took Best Dog at the Whippet Stars 2009 contest on the same weekend as his kennelmate Elmanash Ambassador went best in show from a record entry of 364 at the East Anglian Whippet Club Championship Show.

I am currently campaigning a dog with 1 CC, and a bitch with 2 reserve CC’s, heading our show team of 8. It is particularly satisfying to see newcomers doing well with our dogs- at a recent Championship show Elmanash took 8 placings, 3 with other exhibitors.

I have judged for many years when work has permitted, my Championship show appointments include Blackpool, North Eastern Whippet and NorthernCounties and I have been booked for another Breed club in 2013 and General Champ Show in 2014.

I have attended a Whippet World Congress and many seminars and teach- ins on various hounds.

Coming to Australia to judge the breed will be an honour and a pleasure and I very much look forward to meeting everybody and assessing the dogs.
