Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. At Long Beach Job Corps Center (LBJCC), we support the Job Corps program's mission of teaching eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and placing them in meaningful jobs or further education.

Medical Office Instructor

The Medical Office Instructor is responsible for teaching students Medical Office Administration. We need someonewho can:

  1. Instruct students in Medical Office Administration in accordance with Job Corps requirements and program specifications.
  2. Counsel and motivate students regarding behavior, training, personal and/or study habits and problems.
  3. Develop and prepare supplementary lessons and recommend curricula changes.
  4. Individualize the Medical Office Administration program to fit the student’s choice of vocation and maintain contact with vocational counselor and instructors.
  5. Maintain classroom environment (behavior and surroundings) conducive to learning.
  6. Participate in maximum benefit Evaluation of Student Progress (ESP) panels and write student progress evaluations and special staffing.
  7. Administer and correct tests; maintain progress, attendance and incentive reports.

Job Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED and two years medical office administration experience or work experience in a related field.
  2. Valid NHA Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certification.
  3. Valid teaching credential or certificate in the state of employment for medical office administration. If not certified, instructor will sign an intent statement showing commitment to achieve certification within one year of the employment date.
  4. Able to complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

Preferred:

  1. Bachelors degree and four years’ work experience in medical office administration, coding and billing, or related field; or, a combination of schooling and work experience in a related field.
  2. NHA Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification.
