Annual Goal Updates

Ø  Improved Diversity Recruitment –

·  The recruitment website has been completed. The website has been up and running since August 11, 2012. There has been some feedback about the site and there will be some changes done to the site.

·  Scott Biggs, JoAnn Hans and Eric Colliflower volunteered to be on the sub-committee to assist Dawn in recruiting potential employees by putting together a list of ideas on how to get information out for the IT website and which recruitment websites to use. They are currently looking at 12 different organizations. Some of the organizations on the list are:

o  NAACP

o  Job Finder

African American Women in Technology

Work Place Diversity.com

Hispanic Diversity.com

·  They are contacting the companies to see how much traffic they receive daily. The deadline for the committee to put together a list is Thursday, September 27 to see what recruiting website, etc. would be worth using at this time. Dawn is currently working with Career Builder on this also. Employees can also use their personal account on LinkedIn to put the IT career website link online.

·  Please view IT career website here http://www.it.johnshopkins.edu/about/careers/.

·  IT@JH Employee Referral Program -

o  Remember that IT@JH non-management employees are eligible to earn up to $2500 as a referral bonus for external applicants. If you know someone applying for a job within IT@JH, be sure they list you as a referral on their application form. The requirements for this bonus differ depending on whether the position is a JHH or a JHU position.

If a candidate is applying for a JHH position:

o  (JHH Employee Referral Program form) must be submitted to The Office of Career Services before or at the time of the candidate’s interview. This is a mandatory requirement. A copy of the form should also go to Wanda Manigo-Cartwright ().

If your candidate is applying for a JHU position:

o  Please review the guidelines (JHU Referral Award Guidelines) regarding candidate eligibility

o  Please contact Hank Potter () to inform her that you have referred a candidate

If you have any questions regarding the referral program, please contact Dawn Butler ().

Update on Action Items from Last Meeting

New Business

·  Mary sent out an email to all of IT for new member recruitment. Please view the list of candidates below that are interested in becoming members.

o  Carolyn Combs – Budget Analyst Epic

o  Sumit Patel – Programmer SAS

o  Willow Fyffe – RAD IT

o  Jared Asay – CTS contractor

o  Beverly Ulandu – App Coor Epic

o  Bonnie Woods – Manager SAS

o  Joyce Padela – Project Manager (Keswick)

o  Tia Harris-Davis – Telecomm

o  Tim Morgan – App Coor Epic

o  Mohan Subramanian – Designer Epic

o  Lisa Jones – Computer Operator (night shift)

o  Etan Weintraub – Sr Sys Eng

o  Rich Veno – CTS

·  There are some concerns with some of the candidates, for example one is a contractor and does work directly for Johns Hopkins and may not be hired. Another concern is that many potential candidates are working directly on the Epic Project and the problem would be how much time they would have to actively participate in council related matters.

·  Once the new members are confirmed and will be on the Diversity Committee, Mary would like to have another committee picture taken.

·  Mary spoke on having a Diversity Week at Mt. Washington. But since this will be a first for the IT Diversity Committee, Mary suggested starting out with the Diversity Day. The initiative would include all tenants at MTW, Transwestern and Aramark. We would also invite all IT employees, regardless of locations. Potential date in Spring of 2013.

·  The Learn@Lunch scheduled for Wednesday, September 26, 2012 was rescheduled to Wednesday, October 3 due to the Yom Kippur holiday.

·  There was a suggestion to have holidays that on the Diversity Calendar put on the Outlook calendar for all IT employees.

·  Reminder, it is a practice of the IT department if an IT employee applies for an open IT position the hiring manager will speak with the employee, even if they do not meet all the qualifications. This is an opportunity to provide information to the employee on what they may be able to do to qualify for the position.
