FRIDAY 4:30

THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES (girls)

·  Costumes will be required to be worn to class on Friday, May 6. (If you take jazz in the following class, just wear your costume for jazz, too, as there will not be enough time for everyone to change in the bathroom.)

·  This is a details check so be sure to have everything done as explained below before coming to class that day.

·  Don’t forget to wear your white footed tights black tap shoes.

·  Don’t forget to wear your chosen undergarment (if any) which should be beige or skin tone in color, and totally hidden from view.

PICTURE DAY: Saturday May 21. DRESS REHEARSAL and RECITAL: Saturday, June 11.

Important: Immediately try on your costume, and immediately double check to see if all pieces as listed below are included in your packet. Your costume package includes:

·  White Camisole Leotard
·  White dance pants / ·  Amelia Earhart helmet, goggles, and scarf
·  Beige elastic chinstrap
·  Green, pink, and yellow vest

PANTS

·  Check the waistband during vigorous movement and tighten if needed. The waistband should be worn high so that the crotch of the pants rides up close to the body.

CAMISOLE LEOTARD

·  Check to see if the straps stay put on the shoulder during vigorous movement. Tighten if needed. Sew the straps at the adjustment sight so they cannot be altered.

HELMET- -Arrange the helmet so that it does not fall down on the forehead

·  Attach the beige elastic for chinstrap. Let the tie hang down.

·  Securely sew the goggles to the helmet. The bottom edge of the googles should be ½” above the edge of the helmet in front.

·  In the back, securely sew the black elastic band from the goggles about ½” above the lower edge.

SCARF

·  Cut the tag off of the scarf.

·  Gather the scarf on 7” up from each end.

·  Sew white Velcro to each gathered area. Please note: Self-stick Velcro will not permanently adhere to fabric, so it must be sewn in place.

·  Wear the scarf around the neck hanging in the front.

Friday 4:30- - -continued

TAP TIES

Buy black tap shoes- - -no Velcro closures.

If you have ribbons, replace the ribbon with a loop of black elastic. Be sure the elastic is tight enough that the shoe cannot be kicked off, but loose enough to take the shoe on and off.

STUDENTS WITH COSTUME CHANGES:

Smaller items such as headdresses and scarves are easily lost backstage in our crowded conditions.

·  A box with compartments that can fit on a chair is a good way to keep track of such items.

·  Required: Label each item with your name, including headdresses, to help insure no mix-ups. The scarf can be labeled with initials on the soft piece of Velcro.

·  Also, it is a good idea to practice costume changes including putting every item back in it’s designated place.

Continue to next page for your check list. You can use the check list to see if all items above have been completed.
