In this unit you are going to investigate the importance of people in business. You will need to select a medium to large sized organisation to investigate, and to write a case study on the following:
The role and importance of the stakeholders of the business
Customer service arrangements and consumer protection law
Key job roles and working arrangements
Employee recruitment and training processes
Employee/employer rights and responsibilities, disputes and health and safety issues
Once you have chosen an organisation, you will need to carry out some secondary research. You can do this in a variety of ways:
Start by finding the address of the organisation and writing to them, asking for a student information pack
Go to the web and find and print any information sheets on your organisation
Go to your organisation’s web page and check out the information there
Visit your organisation and find out more about they way they work
Find the location of your organisation at or and print a map
Make your case study as interesting as possible with pictures, etc.
Remember to keep a record of all your sources (a bibliography)
Task One: The Role and Importance of Stakeholders
(AO1a -10 marks)
All businesses have STAKEHOLDERS
Give a definition of the term stakeholders, and then list the stakeholders for your organisation. / Describe each in turn, and give some reasons why they may be interested in the performance of the organisation.Mark Band 1(1-4)
Explain the role of the key stakeholders.
What influence does each have on the organisation?
Why is it important for the organisation to try to please all of them or minimise the damage of making a decision that some will not be happy with?
