Rewards and Consequences for Behavior: The best reward for following rules is a fun and productive class as well as a good feeling inside and better grades and citizenship.

Consequences for breaking rules such as violence and vulgarity will result in immediate referral to the office. Other offenses may be handled in one or more of the following ways:

·  Warning

·  Conference with teacher

·  Parent/guardian conference

·  Written summary of violation and solutions for improvement

·  Time after school with teacher

·  Lowering of citizenship

Citizenship: Students have the opportunity to earn an “H” or honorable citizenship grade. This grade is given to those who follow class rules and contribute to the class in positive ways. A student’s citizenship grade will be lowered to an “S”, “N”, or “U”, for not following class rules, tardies, not coming prepared with materials, etc.

**Costs and Needed Supplies: Students will need to purchase or bring from home 1 ¼ yd. of woven fabric (42”- 45” wide) and thread for the pillowcase project. This will be needed approximately 6 weeks from the beginning of class

Grading: Grading will consist of a variety of assignments, quizzes, labs, and 2-3 homework projects. The grading scale will follow the RMMS grading scale found on SIS.

Late Work and Missing Assignments: Points will be deducted for late work. If you know you will be absent when an assignment is due or have extenuating circumstances please contact me and I will work with you. If you have an excused absence and miss a lab, you may make that lab up at home with a written summary completed and signed by the parent or guardian.

Homework: You will have 2-3 assignments that you need to complete at home. They can include:

·  Bedroom Cleaning Assignment – thoroughly clean your room (details given later)

·  Home Laundry Assignment -do a load of laundry from start to finish

·  Home Cooking Assignment - use a recipe to prepare food item from scratch (no mixes, prepared foods, etc) that you have never made before.

These are significant assignments and require a parent/guardian’s signature of completion.

Labs: Students generally look forward to participating in the clothing and foods labs. This is a privilege and enjoyable as long as students follow lab rules and safety procedures. To ensure a positive experience for students with allergies to food, please sign below indicating whether or not there is a food allergy. Please call if you have special concerns.

I look forward to working with you this semester. Parents may reach me at my e-mail address and before or after school at RMMS at 654-9350 ext. 2634.
