Supplementary provisions to GWS– Common to Road Equipment and GWS– Street Lighting Equipment.

1General
1.1Scope
The work covers the establishment of street lighting in the following facilities:
- <intersection>
- <roundabout>
- <road section>
- carpooling facility>
- <roadside facility>
- <bus stop>
- <pedestrian crossing>
- <path in its own layout>
- <underpass>
Street lighting boxes and street lighting fittings are employer supplies.
1.2Definitions
Additional definitions may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
1.3Standards/instructions
In addition to the standards/instructions specified in GWS – Common to Road Equipment and GWS – Street Lighting Equipment, the following apply:
- ELRÅD notifications
- The power supply company’s local provisions
- Supplier instructions
The latest version of all standards/instructions applies. The cut-off date is five working days before the deadline for submission of tenders.
This section should probably be in SC, section 2(2). Inquiry has been sent to GKP.
1.4CE marking
1.4.1Lighting columns
Lighting columnsshall be CE marked.
It shall be documented that the specified poles meet the Danish requirements in accordance with GWS– Street Lighting Equipment, in particular with regard to corrosion resistance (25-year lifespan), wind load, partial load factors used (class A according to DS/EN 40-3-3:2003) and maximum horizontal deflection (class 2 according to DS/EN 40-3-3-:2003).
It shall be documented that the specified poles meet the requirements for ground category.
The Danish Road Directorate has prepared a summary table of the poles which can immediately be used on the Danish State road network. The table shows the site category and reference wind speed in which the poles can be erected.
The summary table is available on > Road Sector > Supplier Portal > Guidelines and standards > Road and traffic aspects > Design and technology > Road equipment > Street lighting equipment – summary tables.
In order to be included in the table, the pole manufacturers have submitted the required documentation to the Danish Road Directorate of their CE certification.
The information submitted has subsequently been evaluated, and the lighting columns which meet the specified requirements, are shown in the table.
If a need exists to use lighting columns which do not appear from the table, the supplier shall submit the necessary documentation to the Danish Road Directorate for an evaluation in accordance with the above, after which they will be included in the table.
1.5Lifespan
The Contractorshall document that the required lifespan for the tendered products is likely.
2Materials
2.1Steel
Additional requirements for steel may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.2Aluminium
Additional requirements for aluminium may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.3Wood
For aesthetic reasons, wooden poles may not be used.
2.4Fibre-reinforced polymer composite
For aesthetic reasons, poles made of fibre-reinforced polymer composite may not be used.
2.5Plastic
Cable ducts in ground shall be red PE ducts, Ø110 mm. Cable ducts under roads shall be pressure class PN10/SDR17. Other cable ducts in the ground shall have a ring stiffness of at least SN8.
2.6Concrete
For aesthetic reasons, concrete poles may not be used.
2.7Bolts etc.
Additional requirements for bolts may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.8Surface protection
The transition between any coating treatment or other corrosion protection and pole shall extend 100-150 mm above finally levelled ground level.
2.9Tolerances
Additional requirements for tolerances may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.10Switches
Additional requirements for switches may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.11Auxiliary relays
Additional requirements for auxiliary relays may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.12 Photocell
Additional requirements for photocells may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.13 Clock switch
Additional requirements for clock switches may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
2.14Dimming ballasts

2.15Time delay relay

2.16Transmitting and receiving unit

3Execution
3.1Steel
Additional requirements for steel may be stated.

3.2Aluminium

3.7Hot-dip galvanising
Additional requirements for hot-dip galvanising may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.8Anodising

3.9Pickling
Additional requirements for pickling may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.10Coating
Additional requirements for coating may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.11Powder coating
Additional requirements for powder coating may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.12Torque
Bolts shall be tightened according to the supplier's instructions.
3.13Poles
For aesthetic reasons, conical or flanged poles shall be used in rural areas.
Poles shall be <conical, semi-conical or cylindrical> according to the definitions in the GWS.
The specified height is the nominal height according to the definitions in the GWS.
The following shall be stated for supply of flexible poles:
Flexible poles shall be supplied with the following classification:
- Speed <70 km/h or 100 km/h>
- Energy absorption <HE, LE, NE>
- Safety category shall be the highest possible as the tenderer shall state the safety class.
HE poles are relatively expensive to procure and should only be used in situations where there is a specific wish to stop the vehicle completely, for example at places where there is a risk of consequential damage to e.g. unprotected road users or retaining walls, for which the car should be stopped immediately.
3.14Welding
Additional requirements for welding may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.15Hatch opening and hatch
Additional requirements for hatchopening and hatch may be stated. If the pole is used as a combined pole, the CE marking does not apply.
If the pole is used as a combined pole, a calculation shall be submitted showing maximum height and width of the hatch opening to document that the extra hatch opening does not weaken the pole.
3.16Clamping brackets
Additional requirements for clamping brackets may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.17Mounting rail
Additional requirements for mounting rails may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.18Cable holes
Additional requirements for cable holes may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.19Electrical assembly/fuse link
Electrical assembly shall be secured with stainless steel screws to C rail in the pole.
Group cables shall be connected to the electrical assembly terminals with identical phase sequence in all poles.
3.20Lantern fixing
Additional requirements for lantern fixing may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.21Brackets
Additional requirements for brackets may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.22Cylinder head
Additional requirements for cylinder heads may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.23Fixtures
Street lighting fixtures are employer supplies.
3.24Electrical equipment
Additional requirements for electrical equipment may be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.25Marking and instructions for use
Resistant marking shall be provided for electrical assemblies with fixture wattage or lumen package and mirror position (if relevant).
3.26Fixture cables
All cables in posts shall be H07RN-F 2x1.5 mm².
Foam blocks shall be supplied and fixed by the electrical Contractor as follows:
- The first foam block shall be fixed ≤ 1 m from the electrical assembly
- The last foam block shall be fixed ≤ 1 m from the fixture bracket or the fixture
- The foam blocks shall be fixed by ≤ 2.5 m apart
- One foam block shall be fixed just below the hatch opening.
Plastic ducts may be used in poles where fixtures with pre-fitted cable are mounted.
3.27Light sources
Street lighting fixtures are supplied with light sources.
3.28Street lighting boxes
Street lighting boxes are employer supplies.
3.29Control
On receipt, the street lighting box is equipped with Amplight modules which are controlled via the Danish Road Directorate's Amplight server at TeknikGruppenA/S.
The system shall be put into operation in cooperation with TeknikGruppenA/S. Detailed instructions are included in the documentation accompanying the street lighting box on delivery.
Photocell shall be suitably positioned, i.e. free of disturbing shade or lighting.
3.30Cable trenches
Additional requirements for cable trenches may also be stated. The Danish Road Directorate has no comments.
3.31Cables in ground
Cables in ground for lighting systems shall correspond to <NKT type NOIKLX>
3.32Cables in duct
Cable ducts under roads shall be made as <controlled under-drilling>.
Deleted if no bridge safety barrier
Cable ducts fitted on bridge safety barriers shall be hot-dip galvanised steel pipes. Pole bends shall be made with duct fittings. The ducts shall terminate below the ground surface in the bridge ends. The ducts shall be fixed with stainless steel metal bands.
3.33Foundation
Foundations for lighting columnsshall as a general rule be supplied as prefabricated concrete foundations.
Steel foundations may be used if they have the same load capacity as concrete foundations regardless of the orientation of the steel foundations in relation to the pole. For documentation of load capacity, see > Road Sector > Supplier Portal > Guidelines and standards > Road and traffic aspects > Design and technology > Road equipment > Foundations. If a different use of flexible poles is prescribed, the width of foundations in all mounting situations, measured perpendicular to the collision direction in the test performed,shall be greater than or equal to the foundation width used in the collision test.
In pole foundations, it shall be possible to introduce cables from 2 sides offset 180º.
Any embedded cable ducts shall be Ø50 mm smooth ducts.
3.34Mounting
The underside of the fixture screen shall be horizontal.
Poles shall be oriented so that the hatch opening faces the direction of traffic.
3.35Electrical work
Notification of the lighting system shall be given to:

5Documentation
Survey data shall be provided as specified in "Registration of survey data for street lighting to DGP", which can be found at > Road Sector > Supplier Portal > Guidelines and standards > Road and traffic aspects > Design and technology > Road equipment > Street lighting equipment – system documentation.
A final control report for inspection and testing before commissioning shall be provided in accordance with the Danish Heavy Current Executive Order, section 6, part 61.
For lighting columns shown in the Summary Table –- Street Lighting Equipment, a copy of the CE mark shall be provided. For lighting poles not included in the summary table, the instruction in section 1.4.1 shall be followed.
6Dimensioning
6.1Safety

6.2.1Wind load
Site category and basic wind speed or wind class for the individual erection sites shall be specified. It is very important to distinguish between wind speed 24 or 27 m/s. See Summary Table –Street Lighting Equipment for guidance.
Site category <I or II> is applicable in this contract.
6.3Deformation
6.3.1Horizontal deformation
