Minutes from SFB Meeting- November 20, 2005

In attendance: Erin, Matt, George, Randy, Katie, Chris and Melissa

Called to order: 7:05

I. Permanent Improvements / Based on the fact several groups have been interested in fund raising recently but have been unsure how to go about doing it, Katie suggested that we work on a fundraising booklet that would be ready for the 2006-07 school year for RSOs to use.
-Trustees will begin doing research for next meeting- will bring any helpful websites, local business ideas (example Randy came up with was buying ingredients from a pizza store and selling kits), and books. Also checking with those in Palmer Square to see the procedures of a group wanting to do a sale.
II. Executive approvals this week/ other areas of business / $200 for the Holiday Giving tree- There is a tree in the Student Center where students can pick an ornament and buy a gift for a child in need. The RSO with the most members to donate a gift will receive $200 to be added to their budget. Gifts are due to ADOS by 12/9.
Hats for caroling- Caroling in the local Princeton area (most likely on Nassau) will be happening probably on 12/11. Carolers will receive a hat as a part of this project.
Bags for holiday party- this was something that happened last year, this year the holiday party will be happening during the GA meeting on December 4th (possibly on the Lawrenceville campus). Because of this meeting and Thanksgiving break, this is the last full SFB meeting of the semester.
RSO budgets for the spring semester are due on 12/9
III BHA / BHA is requesting $1500 to send 10 members to a Leadership conference in January. SFB felt it was important to discuss this proposal even though a BHA representative was not there. Questions will then be forwarded to the president, and once answered, a vote will be conducted via e-mail. These questions included:
-How were the 10 members that would be going chosen to go?
-Would it still be beneficial for the exec board to go without the
additional members?
-What is the price breakdown of expenses per person (lodging, registrationexpenses, travel, etc)
-If the 10 people were approved to go, would each person be able to pay $50 of the mentioned expenses so SFB would contribute $100 for each?
-SFB did feel like it was an important opportunity for the executive board to attend for networking, skill development, and ideas that could be used in future years. They were less inclined to agree to send 10 members because previous conference approvals were only for the executive board members of other RSOs

Meeting adjourned at 7:45pm
