Agenda item: Call to Order

Discussion: Welcome, Function of the PPO, Message from Eve Fein

  • Welcome to the PPO (Carin Ong) – Carinwelcomed attendees to the PPO. She explained the function of the PPO and how much support is needed from parents. The chart with the division of school, resource development and PPO was explained.
  • Eve Fein – Eve thanked attendees for their support and expressed how much that support is needed and appreciated. She thanked Carin for all of the time she invests, then talked about raising resources, why we are a “No-Sell School,” and the No-Sell fundraiser, emphasizing that giving is completely voluntary.

Agenda item: Committee Reports

Discussion: Introduction and information was given on each committee.

  • Welcome (Laura Kagy) – Laura introduced herself.
  • Volunteer (Ann Webb) – There will be an opportunity for volunteers to contribute a skill in the classroom. More information on this will be sent out in the students’ backpacks. We are also working on getting a PPO calendar on the website with PPO related info and dates.
  • Classroom volunteers must complete CRA’s volunteer training. Volunteer training will be available on 9/11 at 2pm, 9/17 at 8:45am and 9/23 at 6pm. You only need volunteer training if you will be working with the students in or out of the classroom or if you plan on attending a fieldtrip.
  • Livescan (Sheree O’Brien) - Livescan will be done on Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 8:45am. The cost is $69. You only need to have this done one time. You will receive a photographed badge and can then attend fieldtrips and work with students. If you aren’t available on the 17th, you can complete it off campus at a Livescan location.
  • Uniform (Rachel Trotter) – Uniforms are for safety to separate CRA students from Wood Canyon students. If you have a uniform concern, please visit Connie at Image Embroidery. If you have not picked up your free t-shirt, please visit the office.
  • Book Fair (Carla Lorenzo and Laura Kagy) – Book Fair is 10/15 - 10/17. We need volunteers! There will be a meeting immediately following the PPO meeting.
  • Room Parent (Mabel Sansevero) – Room parents are chosen at Back to School Night on 10/1 by the teachers. If you are interested, know that it is a big commitment. You must complete volunteer training if you are a room parent.
  • Family Fun Nights (Mary Engstrom) – First family fun night is 10/14 during the book fair. It will be a lot of fun. The following family fun night will be at Pumpkin City. The school will be selling wrist bands for $12/each. Half of the cost goes to CRA.
  • Teacher Appreciation Luncheons (Mary Engstrom) – Each month, one of the classrooms will host the luncheon. A Signup Genius is always sent out ahead of time asking for volunteers to contribute a dish. The first luncheon is today.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week (Teresa Winters) – The supply drive will be in February this year. The first week of May will be the official Teacher Appreciation Week.
  • Multicultural Fair (Sara Nieves-Lucas) - We do an annual end of the year multicultural celebration. We will be looking for country ambassadors to host booths. We will not begin to have meetings about the fair until January.
  • Dr. Seuss Day (Kim Napoleon) – Dr. Seuss Day is Feb. 27th.
  • Student Portfolios (Kristen Merkh and Heather Dunmyer) – Student Portfolios are different from the yearbook. It is a compilation of your student’s best classwork that is hardbound. It is $20. If you choose not to purchase one, your student’s work will still be sent home. Each class will need one parent volunteer to organize the work for the portfolios.
  • Yearbook (Leah Taylor and Kim Napoleone) – Yearbook will be done by the middle school. We will need pictures.
  • Communications (Tina Bogaars) –The website is constantly updated with dates to remember and information.
  • Tech Trot (Cindy Galvez and Leah Latini) – CRA’s annual Jog-A-Thon. This year it will be on 10/31. All the money raised goes to CRA’s technology program. We need business sponsors and volunteers to help the day of. There will be a meeting 9/12 after drop-off for anyone who wants to be a part of this event.
  • Silent Auction (Kellye Moses and Leah Latini) –Our annual silent auction event is a lot of fun. This year, there will be a 1950s theme. It will be on 4/18 and our first meeting will be 9/19 at 2pm for anyone who is able to help.
  • Box Tops (Monica Moore) –Save your box tops! We raise a lot of money through box tops.
