A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF CARPENTER EARLE KING, JR., OF DARLINGTON COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Carpenter Earle King, Jr., of Darlington County, on May 31, 2008; and

Whereas, a resident of Hartsville, Carpenter Earle King, Jr. was born in Washington, D.C., to Carpenter Earle King, Sr. and Edith Glenn King fiftysix years ago; and

Whereas, during his career in the field of journalism, he was associated with the Hartsville Messenger and the Florence Morning News as a photojournalist. He also served as editor of the Lee County Observer; and

Whereas, he leaves his beloved wife, Beverly Sansbury King, and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Carpenter Earle King, Jr., of Darlington County, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Beverly King for the family.
