JOB TITLE:Community Engagement Specialist

PROJECT:Better Start Bradford

RESPONSIBLE TO:Programme Director

OFFICE BASE: Mayfield Centre, Broadway Avenue BD5 9NP

HOURS OF WORK:37 hours per week

STARTING SALARY:£34k

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT:25 days per year plus bank holidays and a floating day at Christmas/New Year pro rata

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:This post is funded for 3 years.

DBS /CRB Disclosure at enhanced level is required.

JOB ROLE

  • To inspire Better Start Bradford and our partners in delivering our vision of a community thrilledbythe wonder of early childhood and their important role in it.
  • Toembed a culture where community engagement is a “golden thread” that runs through our work, our team, board, our projects and our relationship with the community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead the development and implementation of a stimulatingstrategy for genuinely engaging our different communities in the Better Start Bradford programme and inspire them to influence our ongoing development.
  1. Set the pace and challenge for the programme team’s engagement programme, using techniques that have been proven to be effective and realistic measures of success.
  1. Work collaboratively with the programme’s leadership team to deliver a strategic action plan which ensures that engagement practices and approaches are embedded within the team, board and delivery partners.
  1. Stimulate and strengthenthe network of ambassadors for the programme and the channels for their active participation and influence.
  1. Support the Partnership Board, Programme Director and Head of Programme in empowering the BSB neighbourhoods to have greater influence and accountability for the programme.
  1. Advise the programme and the partnership on the latest research and best practice in community engagement, empowerment and co-production.
  1. Champion community engagement and empowerment across the programme, partnership and nationally.
  1. Provide a strategic contribution to programme planning and the sustainability plan.
  1. Provide advice and consultancy support to partners on what works in engaging communities.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no line management responsibilities currently attached to this post.

The post will work closely with a team of specialists from various sectors who also provide internal and external leadership around their specialism.
