Dr. Rita Pierson, a 40 year educator who passed away in June 2013, was also a well-known and respected TED speaker. Her ‘ideas worth spreading’ related to education and the importance of positive relationships.

As part of this week’s Tuesday Teaching Tip, I hope you can take some time to view her TED talk and blog post featured on a TED talk education special. Here is a brief excerpt from that blog: “Teachers…are usually not deemed worthy of news coverage unless there is a scandal or a strike. Most of the time, their major accomplishments are shared only with colleagues and family members and not the media. The celebration is often cut short by some catastrophe the next day. Yet, in spite of the highs and lows, I cannot think of another profession that brings both joy and challenge on a daily basis.”

In June 2013 we lost a wellknown and respected educator, Dr. Rita F. Pierson. For those of you familiar with TED speakers, Dr. Pierson was a well-known educator and TED speaker p in the TedTalk world. She announces her sudden passing on Friday, June 18, 2013. Educator
