Dear St. Ann Family,September 8,2016

We had another exciting and action packed week at St. Ann. Between the excessive heat, excessive rain, Sprenke preparations, and the temporary boil order for our region, we had to remain very flexible on campus this week. I am pleased to report that we navigated these challenges smoothly thanks to supportive parents, patient teachers, and students who were willing to work around the needs of the school community. This speaks volumes about our school family and their willingness to step up and help when needs arise and to stay cooperative and collaborative when challenges are encountered. We’re lucky to have one another.

This week the 7th grade led our all school Mass. They helped us celebrate The Feast of The Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary.

Last Friday’s Food Truck Extravaganza was a success! It was wonderful to see so many of our school and parish families in attendance to enjoy the beautiful weather, tasty treats, and so many good friends. A special thank you goes to Mrs. Dee Henderson and the rest of the 6th grade parents and students for helping to make this event so fun!

The Msgr. Sprenke Soccer Tournament has already kicked off with the first games taking place this past Tuesday evening. This Saturday, St. Ann is hosting a special BBQ in conjunction with the tournament games and any new families/students to our school community eat for FREE!

St. Ann’s soccer teams will play on Fridays and Saturdays including September 9th/10th, 16th/17th, and 23rd/24th. Come out and support our teams!

On September 24th, the Normandy community is celebrating the Natural Bridge Road Great Streets Project with a community fair. The morning begins with a short “Fun Run” down Natural Bridge beginning at 9am. At 12 Noon, check out the community fair taking place around the fountain/roundabout at Natural Bridge and Florissant Rd. just east of campus. St. Ann will be represented as community member with a tent and booth featuring information and representatives from our school and parish. If you would like to volunteer to help run the booth, please contact the school!

September is full of special days. Below, you can see a quick list of items to be added to your family’s calendar.

Recycling –Please bring your aluminum cans and newspapers, magazines, junk-mail, old homework, fast food paper sacks, etc. and put it in the dumpsters behind church. We also accept cell phones and printer

cartridges for recycling. You can also help our school by sending Campbell’s Soup Labels and Box Tops

for Education to the office. Don’t throw away a chance to help our school! Thankyou for your help with

our Earth saving mission!

Next Tuesday, September 13th, is Picture Day. Students are permitted to be out of uniform on this day so they can look their very best for their photos. Picture Day is a great way to capture a visual keepsake of your student as they start their new year of school. Order forms should be distributed to families. If you did not receive an order form or need a new one, please contact the school. We want every family to have the opportunity to access their student’s photos.

Catechetical Sunday is scheduled for September 18th at our 11AM Mass. This is a special Mass at which our faculty, staff, and students can be blessed and commissioned to carry out the important work of Catholic Education.

The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is approaching fast. St. Ann students are preparing and we need volunteers to help administer the test. It is critical that we provide our students with the proper timing, environment, and resources to allow our students to fully access the testing process and show their skills during this important week. Because of this, extra adults may be required to help accommodate the needs of our individual learners. If you are able and willing to help make our testing week a success, please contact the school!

Check out St. Ann Catholic School on social media. You can find our school on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. St. Ann is also rolling out its own Snapchat Geofilters. While on campus, use these filters to let your friends know you’re having fun at St. Ann. Follow all of our pages and share our story. We’re excited to show the world all of the wonderful things happening at St. Ann.
