Check-in begins at Holiday Inn,

5 - 8 p.m.

We meet and greet at hotel’s Restaurant and Lounge and Bar.

Wed., Sept 24th. 9:00 a.m.

We car-pool some thirty minutes to OLANA $5x= $ ______

State Historical Site, Greenport, NY ( After viewing an introductory film, from 10 - 10:20 a.m, we will have a guided tour of Olana, an ornate Persian-style mansion which was home to Hudson River School painter Frederic Edwin Church. The grounds and roads in the park have car or carriage pull-over areas providing breath-taking views of the Hudson River and Catskill mountains. [note: We are substituting this venue for our previously-planned browsing trip to the village of Woodstock].

12 noon. We leave Olana and car-pool 35 minutes to Rhinebeck, N.Y.

On the Verandah of WILDERSTEIN Mansion, Rhinebeck (assortment of plattered wraps, salads,

fruit, desserts and beverages).

of Suckley family Victorian mansion at Wilderstein, with interior designed by Joseph Burr Tiffany; and visit to museum shop. Calvert Vaux designed the grounds of both Wilderstein and Olana.

4 - 6 p.m: Browse tony Rhinebeck.

6:15 - 7:30 p.m A quick stop at “The Rhinecliff”, an elegant hotel and restaurant-bar situated 100 feet from the Amtrak train station and Hudson River.

8 p.m: We arrive back at our hotel to meet and greet the new arrivals.

Thursday, Sept. 25th, 9:40 a.m.

Car-pool ten minutes to Senate House parking lot on Clinton Street, Kingston.

10 - 11:30 a.m.Guided tour$3.x= $ ______

of the Senate House and MuseumBuilding, at site of NY’s first capital. We will see paintings and sketches by John Vanderlyn, plus letters from Aaron Burr (his patron) to him and others.

11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Lunch at a nearby restaurant.

1:30 - 4 p.m.Guided $10.x= $ ______

walking tour of Kingston’s Historic Stockade District. Within blocks of the Senate House, this wonderful event features the Old Dutch Reformed Church; the FredJ.JohnstonAntiquesMuseum; the plaque about the life of Sojourner Truth, and much more.

4:30 p.m. Back at our hotel, we meet and greet new arrivals.

Evening Meal. Some of us may choose to stay-in for dinner, at our hotel. Others may decide to go out. There are many nearby restaurants and a few diners.

Bring swim suits and exercise clothing if you wish. The indoor swimming pool and very deep hot tub are open 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., and there is a fitness room.

Friday Sept. 26th. Mid-morning: Car-pool twenty minutes to the ROUNDOUT, Kingston’s historic waterfront district. We’ll browse this small area; maybe visit the MaritimeMuseum; and have lunch.

2 - 4:30 p.m. We have $13x= $ ______

booked space aboard the RIP VAN WINKLE, a modern 300-passenger sight seeing cruise motor vessel which boards at 2:00 p.m. at Roundout Landing, goes south to Poughkeepsie and back, with a light historic narration.

5:00 p.m. We gather at the outside patio (self-pay) of Mariner’s Harbor Restaurant, a two-minute walk from Roundout Landing, and enjoy their three-piece band (oldies songs) in a river view setting. Reasonably-priced menu.

9:00 p.m. Our hotel’s Lounge features either a disc jockey or live band.

Saturday, Sept 27th, 11 a.m. - 12 noon.:

Pre-luncheon cash bar social hour, in our hotel’s Gazebo Room.

12 - 4 p.m.: ABA’s $40x = $ ______

sit-down LUNCHEON & ANNUAL MEETING, in Gazebo Room.

Our featured guest speaker is Katherine C. Woltz, Madison, Virginia, Art History doctoral candidate. Katherine will address the intersecting lives of Aaron Burr, John Vanderlyn, Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, and Francisco de Miranda.
