Prompt

In the video Un Día en la Vida: Quepos, Costa Rica, Joaquín and Tania discuss the environmental issues affecting Costa Rica and how the government is developing eco-tourism as part of the effort to protect the natural world.

Choose one of the topics below, and write a persuasive paragraph, in English.

Topic 1

After watching the video, you decide that eco-tourism is an effective way to protect the environment. Write a paragraph (6-8 sentences) in English in which you persuade government officials to develop eco-tourism in your state. Give three reasons and use examples from the video to support your opinion.

Topic 2

After watching the video, you decide that eco-tourism is an ineffective way to protect the environment. Write a paragraph (6-8 sentences) in English in which you persuade the Costa Rican government to stop eco-tourism. Give three reasons, and use examples from the video to support your opinion.

In your paragraph be sure to include:

·  a topic sentence in which you state your opinion

·  three reasons supporting your opinion

·  examples from the video to support your opinion

·  a concluding sentence in which you state your opinion and ask the government officials to take an action

·  correct grammar and punctuation

·  at least six sentences
