MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION

SUBJECT: Roles and Responsibilities for Information Management Officer (IMO)

  1. PURPOSE. This memorandum is to state the roles and responsibilities for all unit IMOs on BAF.
  2. SCOPE. This policy applies to all Information Management Officers (IMO) on BAF.
  3. ROLE.
  4. An IMOis the first POC for all users assigned within their ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT (OU.)
  5. An IMO should resolve basic computer problems and request service for any communication issues.
  6. RESPONSIBILITIES.
  7. Disseminate and ensure implementation of Information Assurance (IA) policy, guidance, and training requirements.
  8. The IMO is responsible for the implementation and management of automation control and certification within the organization. The IMO is the central point of contact and principal advisor for all automation and telecommunication issues. The Help Desk will only accept support requirements submitted by IMOs who are on orders.
  9. The IMO will assist users in ensuring all data retrieved from the Bagram NIPR/SIPR domain is controlled properly.
  10. Certify and accredit the units/activity’s security info structure (hardware, operating systems, and internal communications) in accordance with DOD 5200.28, Security Requirements for Automated Information Systems, 21 Mar 88; DOD 5200.1-R, Information Security Program, 17 Jan 97; and AR 380-19, Information Systems Security, 27 Feb 98.
  11. The unit/activity primary or alternate IMO will troubleshoot software errors whenever possible before contacting the Bagram Help Desk for assistance.
  12. Ensure all users meet the requisite favorable security investigations, clearances, authorization, need-to-know, and security responsibilities before granting access to the IS.

  1. Create and manage user account paperwork. A NIPR and SIPR user accounts needs to match the persons AKO account or meet the AKO standard, which is first name.middleinitial.lastname.
  1. Managelocal machines. Ensure that computers are correctly named, which is bgrmwkn, OU name, and description of workstation.
  1. Responsible for patching vulnerabilities.
  1. Removal of unauthorized software.
  1. Baseline workstations in accordance with DAA Policy.
  1. Report security violations and incidents to the DSST.
