Today’s healthcare systems are facing unprecedented pressure to simultaneously improve quality and decrease cost. This pressure forces systems to employ a variety of tactics (i.e. High Reliability, LEAN, Six Sigma, Magnet, Culture Change) to address organizational change and specific problems. However, without organizing these various approaches and tactics in a comprehensive process-driven framework, your healthcare organization will never realize it’s full potential and simultaneous improvement in cost and quality will never be maximized. Moreover, amassing tactics leads to further siloed leadership and “flavor of the month” cynicism.
This webinar, presented by Kate Goonan, MD, managing director at Navigant and Rulon Stacey, PhD, FACHE, managing director, Navigant, will outline the benefits of each of these specific tactics. More importantly, this presentation will explain how benefits can be maximized by full integration into the performance excellence framework outlined in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Many tactics used in healthcare today are valuable, but their benefit can only be maximized if there is a data driven process to know when to use each tactic and how to measure their benefit.
About the Speakers:
Kate Goonan, MD, is a managing director in the healthcare practice at Navigant. With more than 25 years of consulting experience, Dr. Goonan is a nationally recognized writer, speaker and advisor in all aspects of performance excellence and transformational change. She has experience in large scale operational and performance excellence strategy with health systems, integrated delivery networks and health plans, as well as other industries.
Dr. Goonan has coached several national and state Baldrige award recipients in fundamental transformational change and performance excellence. She specializes in the integration of robust process improvement with strategy, operations, culture, workforce engagement, patient experience and high reliability sciences.
