2.RATIFICATION OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

2.1.FR moved and JH seconded that the minutes of the previous general meeting be accepted as printed. Carried.

7.3.1.LP also noted that in previous meeting that there had been some conflicting views on whether there was CCTV installed in the senior tuckshop. GC has since confirmed that there are CCTV cameras installed in the tuckshop. These were installed several years ago but had recently failed, most likely due to lightning strike.

Junior School Parent Advisory Group (no report) – JR noted that the main fund raising goal this year is to support the Junior School science initiatives; LP noted that JS new building likely to be delayed and not likely to start until Term 2 2017.

Middle and Senior School Parent Advisory Group (no report) – next meeting is 9 May. Amazing Race coming up – parents needs to sign up early.

8.MOTIONS ON NOTICE

8.1.Adoption of 2016 P&C Constitution – carried over to next meeting.

8.2.MSG: That the P&C approve the Autumn Concert, Winter Concert and Gala Concert raffles. KM moved. NR seconded. Carried.

9.GENERAL BUSINESS

9.1.Discussed QUT use of KGSC sports fields on weekends and evenings. LP advised that this is allowed under a 10-year agreement negotiated with QUT in exchange for construction of light towers. This agreement expires in May 2016. Also noted that QUT sports field adjacent to KGSC lower oval is currently under construction. The development will include multi-story car park and sports field.

9.2.Current sport captain wrote to P&C to seek support for reversible ‘bucket’ sports hat as part of their plans to reinvigorate inter-house spirit. P&C supportive of the students continuing to research and will encourage house captains to seek quotes/styles from existing SUB shop suppliers.

9.3.Several parents raised they hadn’t received school invoices. LP to follow up.

9.4.GC asked for discussion next meeting on the college being an independent school.

9.5.GA raised the issue of dangerous student behavior at Kelvin Grove Road lights/crossing. LP advised that staff member is present at crossing during afternoon. Further action should be taken to improve safety. Discussion carried over to next meeting.
