Minutes: Minutes from the Sponsoring Committee meeting of December 8, 2009 and January 12, 2010 were approved by 1st by Lt. Wade and 2nd by Lt. Baker. Motion to approve last year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) minutes were approved by 1st Frank Lin and 2nd by Dennis Dickins and as well by everyone else at tonight’s meeting.

Commanding Officer’s Remarks: Lt. Baker reported that she is going on a training course and right now the small amount of cadets remaining in the core are terrific but they need to grow in size and that a legion member could offer support to help the sponsoring committee and as well as the cadets.

Guest: Mr. Freer stated that the sponsoring committee’s job is to support the cadets. There should be 25 to 30 people in the committee helping the cadets. It should be a parental responsibility. Sending emails are not enough for people to respond to attend meetings. Paper notices would be more beneficial. This last month, training for the cadets was very difficult because of the olympics. Training year for cadets runs from September to June. The insurance premiums for the cadets are paid by the cadet league. Because of tonight’s poor turnout of people, another AGM will be held later this year possibly after Easter in April. The Pillars meeting for this year will be held in Vernon on April 24th and 25th. Also Mr. Maskovich stated that cadets should help other communities and be recognized for their help. One organization in a community could be the SPCA, to help needy animals who can’t help themselves. The parents would be proud to see their kids help other needy organizations. Richard Horvath also suggested the check the internet to see how other military cadets run their program and how they get recognition.

Chairman’s Report: Dennis stated that he has offered to keep his chair and treasurer positions until June since he is moving to Victoria in August. Helen stated that she will continue as secretary for the committee until June this year.

Vice-Chair’s Report: Frank Lin stated that he is leaving his position in the committee because of his poor health.

Treasurer’s Report: There is no report at this time.

Fund Raising Report: There is no report at this time.

Public Relations/Recruitment & Retention: John stated that he is leaving his positions in the committee due to his personal busy schedule.

Other Business: There will be a follow up for the AGM on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 6, 2010.
