Assistant Professor of Mathematics (Math Education)
Tenure-Track appointment to begin fall 2014
The Department of Mathematics at Keene State College is seeking qualified applicants with a commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service at a public liberal arts college to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The KSC Mathematics Department of seven faculty and the Director of the Mathematics Center provide an in-depth study of mathematics in preparation for either an immediate career, especially teaching, or graduate school and supports the mathematical needs of other academic disciplines. Primary responsibilities of the position are to teach Secondary Mathematics Education Methods courses, to perform Student Teaching Supervision, to teach other mathematics/mathematics education courses, as needed by the department, reviewing and planning curriculum, and working with the education faculty. In addition, College service, especially related to teacher preparation and a program of scholarship in Mathematics Education, elements of which may engage undergraduate students, are expected.
Required Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Mathematics Education or a closely related field by August 1, 2014; a minimum of two years full-time teaching experience in a secondary school (grades 7-12), and evidence of teaching effectiveness are required.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: College-level teaching experience, experience teaching Secondary Mathematics Education Methods courses and performing Student Teaching Supervision; experience with math technology in a secondary school.
Salary will be based on Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement and is $61,720 minimum for rank of Assistant Professor for fall 2013. Excellence in teaching, a program of scholarly activity, and a record of College service are required for promotion and tenure.
