Fundraising Assistant (Intern)
Vauxhall City Farm is a charity running recreational, educational and therapeutic programmes for children, young people and disadvantaged people in the setting of an urban farm in the centre of London.
We are funded by grants and donations and we are looking for an intern to assist our Fundraising Manager with new fundraising initiatives.
This is an ideal opportunity to become involved in one of the hidden treasures of London. Covering 1.5 acres of land, Vauxhall City Farm is home to over 60 animals and provides a chance for Londoners to meet farm animals face to face. It provides opportunities, education and training for people in the local community and beyond.
As a small charitable organisation that aspires to grow, this also provides an opportunity for someone to benefit from personal and professional development and gain experience of fundraising work in a charity.

Salary This is an unpaid Intern position

Hours Hours are flexible to suit a successful candidate.
Maximum 37.5 hours per week, Minimum 15 hours per week
Annual leave 25 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata)
Responsibility for No line management responsibility
Liaising with Volunteers and staff and Fundraising Sub-Committee members
Responsible to Trustee (Fundraising & Marketing Sub-Committee)
Overall purpose of the job
To assist the Fundraising Manager and Farm Director with specific fundraising activities and initiatives. The role is ideal for a self-starter who is creative and hard working and who wants to gain experience of working in fundraising for a charity.
Key Responsibilities
· Research new potential corporate grant givers and corporate donors
· Contact and follow up potential new grant givers and donors
· Help to generate new fundraising ideas
· Implement new fundraising initiatives
· Assist the Fundraising Manager with general duties
· Carry out marketing activities promoting the Farm and Farm events
Specific Tasks
· Research potential corporate funders (companies, company trusts, livery companies etc) through directories, internet, Lambeth Volunteer Centre, and other means to establish a list of potential new funders
· Match specific needs, based on the Farm’s annual budget and project plans, to potential new funders
· Make initial contact with potential new funders by telephone, email or letter
· Follow-up initial contact, establish relationships and secure donations where possible
· Carry out marketing activities, particularly relating to the Farm’s 35th Birthday Celebrations, including: press releases, blogs, social media, website updates, flyers etc.
· Attend Fundraising Sub-Committee meetings
· Assist the Fundraising Sub-Committee to find and implement new fundraising initiatives (both short term and long term)
