March 2017

Dear School of History and Dramatic Arts Family Members,

Your child is being asked to participate in Student-Led Conferences on Thursday,March 9th, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. The conferences will be held in the multipurpose room (MPR) at Sotomayor Learning Academies.

The goals for the students include:

  • Learning to effectively communicate the expectations of SoHDA and their expectations for themselves
  • Learning to honestly and accurately evaluate their own work
  • Being responsible for reporting their academic progress to their caregivers
  • Being accountable for their schoolwork and behavior
  • Learning organizational and leadership skills

This is an opportunity for you, as a caregiver, to monitor your child’s progress, listen to their evaluation of his/her own accomplishments, and provide your child with support and encouragement for his/her schoolwork.

SoHDA teachers will also be available during the conference should any clarifications become necessary, but the overall purpose of these conferences is to provide students and families with an opportunity to have an open conversation around the successes and challenges that students are experiencing in school.

We are also asking families to register for Schoology. Schoology is a great tool that gives families instant access to student’s grades and allows direct communication with their teachers. Signing up is easy. Please register at mylogin.lausd.net

Thank you for your interest and cooperation with this model. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at (323) 276-5500.

Sincerely,

The SoHDA Teachers and Staff
