Important Christmas Pageant Day Information

Hobart Myer Christmas Pageant 2015Saturday 21st November

Dominic College is entry No. 19

We will be assembling on The corner of Liverpool and Campbell Street, opposite the Hospital at 9:30am, as indicated on the map below!

Please remember:

  • Bring a water bottle ( tied on a string over the shoulder works well)
  • Wear a hat
  • Wear enclosed shoes
  • We are dressing in our Dominic College sports uniform shorts and Christmas tops or any appropriate tops that are pink, purple, gold or white.
  • Bring a pram for little legs
  • All student medications for allergies, asthma or anaphylaxis must be carried on the child or their accompanying parent.

Parents are encouraged to join in the theme and walk with the kids 

Keep a look out in the Mercury for pageant program parade finishes about 11:30-12pm

Entry 19. Starting point:

At 9:45am we will move to our starting position for the Parade as indicated below. We are entry number 19. If you are late to drop off your child and miss us at The corner of Liverpool and Campbell Street, opposite the Hospital at 9:30am you can meet us at the point indicated on the map below!

Other important notes:

The Blue Line

To ensure the Pageant is a safe event for everyone, we ask you to please stay behind the blue line at all times.

The blue line will be clearly marked on the road, allowing spectators to remain a safe distance from both walking and vehicle-based entries.

Parking

For the safety of spectators and Pageant entrants, no parking is allowed along the Pageant route on the day (please see the map for the Pageant route). Parking will become available after the parade has finished at approximately 1.00pm.

Free Parking in the City

The city of Hobart’s CBD parking meters and off-street CBD Car Parks will be FREE on Pageant day.

CBD car park opening hours are:

  • Argyle Street Car Park:
    7.00am – 9.00 and 1.00pm – 10.00pm (Argyle street will close to traffic at 9.00am)
  • Centrepoint Car Park:
    8.00am – 9.15am and 1.00pm – 5.15pm (Harrington Street will close to traffic at 9.15am)
    If you are intending to use Argyle Street Car Park on the day, please be aware that you will need to enter Argyle Street by 9.00am.
    Those intending to use Centrepoint Car Park will need to enter Harrington Street by 9.15am and will not be able to leave until 1.00pm
  • Trafalgar Place Car Park:
    7.00am – 5.00pm (This car park is unaffected by the Pageant route or any road closures)
  • The Hobart Central Car Park:
    8.00 – 5.30pm (This car park is unaffected by the Pageant route or any road closures)

Other important notes:

Market Place and Vodafone Car Parks are also available to use on Pageant Day. Please note that this is not free parking and regular fees and charges will apply.

Regatta Ground

There will be free parking available on the Hobart Regatta Ground between 9.00am and 5.00pm, on Pageant day.

Accessible parking and viewing

In addition to the regular parking provisions in Council’s on-street and off-street car parks, members of the public who are holders of a Transport Access Scheme Parking Permit can access dedicated parking spaces in:

  • Bathurst Street (between Elizabeth and Argyle Street)
  • Collins Street parking (between Harrington Street and Barrack Street).
  • An accessible viewing area is located next to the main stage at the Liverpool Street end of Elizabeth Mall.
  • Victoria Street between (Collins and Macquarie Street) has accessible parking, and viewing, access by 9.15am.
  • Collins street (corner of Harrington and Collins Streets) limited spaces, access by 9.15am

Bus Stop

All bus services from the Elizabeth Street Bus Mall will be moved to Macquarie Street outside the Old Mercury Building.

Children and families meeting point

The Information Booth in the Elizabeth Mall will be a dedicated meeting point for lost children on Pageant day. Parents are encouraged to collect IF I’M LOST stickers for their children from the stall in the Elizabeth Mall, so they can be contacted if children and parents become separated.
