Pancakes

Ingredients:

-  1 egg

-  1 cup flour

-  ¾ cup milk

-  1 tablespoon granulated sugar

-  2 tablespoons vegetable oil

-  3 teaspoons baking powder

-  ¼ teaspoon salt

-  margarine, butter or shortening (to spread on when done)

-  syrup (to dip pancakes in when done)

Directions:

1.  Beat egg with a wire whisk in medium bowl until fluffy. ______

2.  Beat in remaining ingredients:

-  Flour ______

-  Milk ______

-  granulated sugar ______

-  vegetable oil ______

-  baking powder ______

-  salt ______

3.  Heat skillet over medium heat or to 375 degrees. ______

-  To test griddle, sprinkle with a few drops of water. If bubbles ‘skitter’ around, heat is just right. J

4.  For each pancake, pour carefully just ¼ cup (liquid meas. cup) batter onto hot griddle. ______

5.  Cook pancakes until puffed and dry around the edges and there are bubbles in the middle. Turn, with a pancake turner, and cook other side until golden brown. (2nd side cooks faster) ______

6.  Prepare teacher-sample on plate from up front, fill out grade sample sheet, and deliver. ______

7.  Clean up kitchen, sit at table, and ask to be dismissed.
