Appl 642 data analysis for HRS cases:

Procedure for creating data sets for cases:

1. Create spss.sav template data dictionary for case

2. Create spss.sps syntax file for compute statements, data analyses

3. Create basic sim file for each case for which multiple data sets can be generated

4. With changes in means, relationships, group vars.

5. Develop hypotheses for each Team A-D

6. Generate data sets from basic case.sim file for each group; save data into txt file

7. Clear all cases completely from SPSS template.sav (to avoid missing data if current file N < previous).

8. Import .txt files to SPSS with existing data definition. Cut and paste data from spss transition file (w/o var names/labels) into existing case template:

9. Sedalia template.sav; first fed template.sav, megalith template.sav

10. Run .sps syntax file for each case team,

11. save and instructor (ins) case team spss sav and output file

12. print output files for evaluations.

13. delete computed vars (or not).

14. Send to Team on webboard

15. specify to Team:

compute the facets (in order) …have been recoded
label the facets
Data analysis:
Freq for job2
Descriptives for facets
Cf to private sector norms
Analyze by group (job2)
Extra; reliabilities, repeated measures.
