Microchip Technology’s 8th Annual Summer Technical Exchange Conference Experiences Record Attendance With More Than 800 Attendees
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Aug. 4, 2004 – Microchip Technology (NASDAQ: MCHP) garnered record attendance at the recent Microchip’s Annual Summer Technical Exchange Review (MASTERs), its eighth annual conference in Arizona, with more than 800 worldwide embedded designers attending the four-day event.
“The MASTERs Conference is an intense and bi-directional technical conference that arms design engineers with extensive Microchip product and technology information to take full advantage of our product portfolio and design expertise,” said Ken Pye, director of applications programs. “We have significantly expanded the breadth and depth of the courses, which are designed specifically for embedded systems engineers.”
Attendees were able to select from a record 65 technical course topics (28 were hands-on courses) in 209 sessions, including 41 new classes. Classes covered the gamut of electronic engineering topics, such as the “Hands-on Mechatronics” sessions where attendees had the opportunity to replace the mechanical control system in an historically mechanical design with a digital system, to the “Advanced Hands-on Programming With the dsPIC30F” class where attendees were taught to use program space visibility and other advanced features of this dsPIC® digital signal controller.
During this year’s MASTERs Conference, a record 1,900 new MPLAB® and analog development systems were sold. The cumulative number of development systems shipped now stands at over 320,000, demonstrating the continued strong acceptance of Microchip’s products.
Other activities included networking sessions between consultants and attendees to discuss relevant design topics, meeting with third-party development tool experts and a wafer fab plant tour. Evening events included a pool party, sand and water volleyball competitions, a robot competition, grand prix slot car championship, casino tables and sports-bar games.
