NEW IN OUR CLASSROOM:
Students now will be filling out a goal sheet each week. This will give the students time to reflect on their own behavioral, social and academic goals and plan for improvement each week. It will also give me a chance to make suggestions as well. Students will create their goal sheets on Monday and they will come home attached to their test packets on Friday. Please review their goal sheets and help them plan for the following week. Everyone has “something” they can and should work on.
New seats this week too! I gave the students an opportunity to choose one person that they would like to sit by, And get this, they all chose someone from the other grade level! Boy we’ve come a long way since the beginning of last year!
HOMEWORK

2nd/3rd grades - Famous American Reports – What’s Next?
March 27th is confirmed for the date…Watch for more information on the time!
· Changes have been made into first person for the speech.A copy will be sent home Monday March 2nd to begin memorizing. We will also be practicing in the classroom
· 2nd/3rd grade will make a biography wheel with our research information. (3rd grade students will be creating these based on their Famous American from last year.)
· 2nd/3rd ~ March 27th we will be having an evening performance at which students will be sharing their speeches in a unique format in costume. All second grade classes will be present and share the same night. For this event, we ask that you and your child make a tri-fold or double-fold poster to place in front of them like a podium. (Presentation tri-folds work great) It can feature a picture of the Famous American, drawings/pictures of reasons why they are famous, flags—the design is up to your child!
· We will make beautiful bean portraits of our Famous Americans, which require an adhesive mat. The cost has gone up this year (doubled, in fact!) so we are asking everyone to please send in $2.50 so that we can purchase the matting board and triangle stand. BOTH grade levels will be participating in this project. THANK YOU!
