Gifted Instructional Coach (Part-Time)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gifted Instructional Coach will lead Galileo teachers in the creation of instructional strategies that will meet the needs of a diverse population of students ranging from highly gifted, twice exceptional, proficient, and underachieving. The Gifted Instructional Coach will help teachers and teacher teams to plan interdisciplinary units, model instructional strategies for gifted learners, lead professional development with regard to gifted learners, and support the administrative staff in the coordination and support of parent workshops, parent conferences (for gifted students), as well as schoolwide oversight of student acceleration, differentiation, and compacting to ensure all students are challenged and learning at their requisite level of ability. The Gifted Instructional Coach will also oversee and coordinate Galileo’s schoolwide enrichment program, Creative Productivity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Have a strong foundational knowledge of the theories of gifted education and their implications for both teachers and students.
· Facilitate individualized support for parents of gifted students, as needed.
· Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions.
· Demonstrate knowledge of research-based instructional strategies that engage all students.
· Provide personalized support to Galileo teachers to assist them in meeting the needs of their gifted students.
· Assist teachers as needed to demonstrate how to effectively differentiate instruction for groups of students.
· Provide support for teachers in supporting the instructional needs of gifted and twice exceptional students.
· Provide organized, individual and or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed.
· Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
· Assist teachers with making instructional decisions based on student data.
· Instruct and support teachers with curriculum software products and classroom/curriculum related technologies.
· Model lessons when appropriate.
· Provide encouragement and emotional support for teachers.
· Assist with development of school curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
· Serve on Galileo School’s Curriculum Committee.
· Develop and maintain a confidential and collegial relationship with teachers.
· Assist teachers with creating instructional materials aligned to student needs and Galileo curriculum.
· Oversee and coordinate Galileo’s schoolwide enrichment program, Creative Productivity.
· Attend workshops/conferences to learn about new innovative instructional strategies.
· Perform duties as assigned by the Principal.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. A Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Exceptional Education or like field in education.
B. Competence in Elementary Education subject matter.
C. At least 5 years of teaching experience.
D. Strong References and Letters of Recommendation.
E. Possess a Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education or Exceptional Education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A. A Master’s Degree in Education.
B. Experience as an Instructional Coach
C. Gifted Endorsement
D. Reading Endorsement
E. Supervisory Experience
