TSO come to George Town to perform concert for school students this Friday, March 23

The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra returns to George Town on Tasmania’s North-East coast this Friday, March 23 to perform a concert entitledMozart’s Magic Flutefor students from schools in the surrounding areas.

The concert is part of the TSO’s state-wide Education program and is supported by Bell Bay Aluminium as part of a longstanding partnership with the orchestra to enable local school students to experience an orchestral performance,as well as an opportunity to learn about the world of classical music.

As part of the project, during the weeks leading up to the concert schools have been encouraged to undertake a Science Fair style competition, using the ‘Mozart Effect’- where research has shown that listening to Mozart's music may induce an improvement on the performance of certain kinds of mental tasks – as inspiration. Experiment results will be displayed on posters prior to the concert for and will be judged by Bell Bay.

Lou Clark, Community Relations Specialist Bell Bay Aluminium said,“Bell Bay Aluminium’s partnership with the TSO provides students in George Town with the opportunity to attend performance locally. In previous years students have been in awe of the highly respected and talented musicians so we are delighted to be able to provide this amazing music and educational experience to students from Port Dalrymple and South George Town Primary School, some who will be attending their very first TSO performance.”
