Job Title: Marketing Executive – Schools Liaison & Events

Post Reference No: MKT17

Job Purpose: The post holder will devise and deliver strategies for working with schools across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole – to co-ordinate school visits, taster days, parents’ evenings and course information sessions.

Responsible for planning and delivering the College’s annual events programme - designed to help maximise student numbers. The post holder will work with college academies to co-ordinate a full and varied plan of shows and events including our annual open day.

Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager

Grade/Salary: £16,173 - £16,490 per annum which is Points 20 – 21 on the Support Staff Salary Scale – scales 3 to 4

Hours: 37 per week with flexibility to meet business needs

Status: Permanent

We’re looking for an outstanding schools and event specialist with the ability to make fun and informative presentations and provide a welcoming first experience of studying at our college.

This role also requires event management skills to deliver a full programme of summer shows and help co-ordinate our annual open day, award ceremonies and exhibitions all across the region.

Main Tasks and Duties:

·  Work with College Academies and Marketing Manager to create a strategy and annual plan for schools liaison.

·  Continue to build strong relationships with key local schools and identify where we need to strengthen our offer

·  Use existing marketing research and expert knowledge from academy specialists and marketing team to produce high impact and innovative presentations and additional materials for school students

·  Visit local schools to deliver IAG and presentations to year 10 and 11 students and attend careers evenings throughout the year. Keep an up to date database of all school contacts and attendance / impact spreadsheet

·  Work with each department to co-ordinate the series of schools taster sessions including the Thomas Hardye School taster events and maintain a database of all enquiries

·  Liaise with the Higher Education team to develop the college’s profile within 6th forms and plan and attend UCAS events to promote the college’s university level courses

·  Use new college software to ensure we are improving on current percentages of schools where we have access to promote the KMC offer and provide reports of the data showing the percentages and where student interest is being generated from.

·  Manage and produce the annual programme of surveys to ensure the marketing team and academic teams understand their audience and use any results to help improve the way we interact with schools

·  Alongside the Marketing Manager, generate and maintain the organisations email marketing platform dotmailer.

·  Work with the Designer to provide feedback from schools to re-imagine the design and production of college support marketing materials. To include flyers, posters, leaflets and adverts. Work with the Marketing and PR Coordinator to ensure the messages to school students are correct and engaging

·  Make best use of allocated marketing budget to organise the delivery of prospectuses to schools across the region in a timely and cost effective manner

·  Responsible for managing and attending all additional IAG/schools events such as careers college, course information evenings/Sundays, taster days, tours of campus and assemblies. Undertake presentations to groups of students and student tours of campus

·  Responsible for managing the annual rota of summer shows including the large college stand at the Dorchester Show. Suggest new show ideas and new visual and interactive activities. Manage all bookings and payments and maintain a file of all application forms, tickets and liaise with academic teams

·  Responsible for managing the Open Morning events throughout the academic year including event set up, staffing and signage.

·  Work as part of a wider college team to deliver the annual Open Day. Specific responsibility for achieving new exhibitors that reflect the college mission and co-ordinating the academic displays

·  Manage the relevant budgets for schools liaison and events. Research and deliver a range of promotional items for shows, securing best value for money. Raise Purchase Orders for your own area of work

·  Input into the website and work with academic staff to improve the academic areas of the college site

·  Contribute to the college social networking output including photography

·  Make presentations to existing college students about the role of marketing and help students to market their events and student council.

·  Manage ad hoc projects, as directed by the Marketing Manager, to promote the continued growth and success of thecollege

Terms and Conditions:

·  This is a permanent appointment.

·  The Contract of Employment will be based on the provisions of the Kingston Maurward Support Staff Contract.

·  The salary for this post will be in the range of £16,173 - £16,490 per annum which is Points 20 – 21 on the Support Staff Salary Scales 3 to 4 depending on qualifications and experience.

·  Working Hours will be 37 per week during Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet business needs.

·  The annual leave entitlement will be 25 working days to be taken during the period 1 September to 31 August plus agreed Statutory Bank Holidays and College closure days.

·  The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a 6-month Probationary Period with reviews after 2, 4 and 6 months.

·  The notice period will be two months on either side.

·  Membership of the Local Government Salary Pension Scheme is available.

·  The appointment is subject to the College receiving satisfactory references which will include questions around whether concerns have been raised regarding safeguarding or working with students.

·  The successful candidate is required to complete a pre employment medical questionnaire that may result in a referral to the Occupational Health Advisor for a medical clearance prior to commencing employment.

The College is unable to appoint anyone who is barred from working with children or vulnerable adults to a Regulated position.

The offer of an appointment with the College will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure under the Protection of Children Act 1999 and the Police Act 1997.
