The Kappa Alpha Psi Educational Foundation is offering to scholarships to college bound high school students totaling$5,000.00 for the 2016/17 school year. We encourage all candidates which meet the criteria to apply and let us further your dreams and academic goals.
How to apply
The application process for the Foundation scholarships has been designed to help the selection committee learn about your leadership experience, extracurricular involvement, and academic performance while minimizing the timeit will take you to apply. With the exception of the two essays and one statement, youshould already have most of the materials that are required.To minimize the impact on our environment, the materials must be submitted electronically via website. Thepreferred format isone PDF that includes all of the materials, but most file formatsand/or multiple fileswill be accepted. If the selection committee has any trouble viewing your application, you will be contacted soon after the application deadline to request a different format. If you do not have electronic copies of a requireddocument, you should scan a paper copy. If you are unable to scan the paper copy, you can mail your application materials to ATTN: Application, Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Fund,P.O. Box 2233, Fort Myers, FL 33902. If you do mail any document(s),please do so by March 29, 2017, to ensure they are received by the application deadline.
The application deadline for the 2017 scholarships isApril 1, 2017.To apply for these scholarships, please send the following information to
- Resume: this should include contact information, work experience, school-sponsored activities (clubs, music, student government, etc.), activities outside of school (community service, volunteer service, scouting, 4-H, etc.), and other talents, honors, achievements, or awards.Please also include any leadership positions held.
- Transcript: Transcript(s) for at least the past two academic years
- ACT or SAT scores: These can be a scanned copy of the report from the testing authority, or they can be included in your high school transcript(s).
- Scholastic achievement (e.g., AP/Honors classes, grade point average, SAT or ACT scores)
- Character and leadership (e.g., extracurricular involvement, honors, awards, achievements, personal reference)
- Two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a teacher or school administrator and one must be from a personal reference. Please be certain that each letter includes the name, address and phone number of the person providing the reference.
- Attach a Passport photo with semi-formal attire.
Eligibility
To be eligible to enter the Guide Right Scholarship and Development Foundation program, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- You must be a high school Senior in the School District of Lee County (FL) at the time of application submission.
- You must be a U.S citizen.
- You must be able to provide written acceptance to an accredited 4-year college or university.
- You must submit all required attachments with your completed application form.
**This year there is a special interest in those students wishing to pursue an education major**
Awardee
- If you are selected, you will be notified of award amount and date for a video recorded interview. During the interview you will be asked to give a brief summary biography, the impact this of scholarship and your future plans. Please be prepared to respond.
- Awardees will be required to write a letter to theFoundation stating how they are adjusting to college life by the beginning of the 2nd Semester or end of the winter Quarter. Upon receipt of the letter awardees will receive the remaining balance of scholarship.
