Profile of Speakers

Mr. Fernando E. Ampatin

Audio-visual Archivist, House of Representatives; Executive Council member, Committee on Archives, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA); Vice Chairperson, Society of Filipino Film Archivists; and resource person on audio-visual archiving.

Mrs. Salvacion M. Arlante

University Librarian / Archivist of the UP Diliman Libraries, and a senior lecturer of graduate library science courses at the UP Institute of Library and Information Science, CEU and FEU. She has consultancies with ILO, Southeast Asia Consortium for Access & Preservation. She has shown her commitment to the library associations as speaker, paper presenter, facilitator, panelist and moderator, and in 1987 became PAARL President and PLAI President in 1992-1993. She is a recipient of numerous awards for her contribution to the profession including the PRC Outstanding Professional Librarian Award.

Ms. Claudine Chamen-Castañeda

Sales and Business Development for Graphic Communication Group of Eastman Kodak Company. As Account Manager, she helps develop document imaging solutions for various vertical market segments such as government, schools, banks and insurance companies. She has worked with the Philippine eLibrary Project and National Statistics Office for its large-scale document and data conversion project.

Mr. Edgardo B. Quiros

Former member of the faculty of the Institute of Library and Information Science at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, handling Computer-based Information Systems, and Indexing and Abstracting courses. A BSED graduate of the College of Education with MA in Library and Information Science both in UP, he is a member of the Portal Development Team of the Philippine e-Lib Project.

Mr. Wim van der Putten

Business Development Manager of Swets Information Services based in Singapore since Jan 2004. Started his career at Swets in 1996 in the Netherlands as Sales Manager for a number of European countries. In 2001 he was appointed as Country Manager China with a branch office in Beijing. Deals with customers in 12 countries in South East Asia, but his main focus is on the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei and Sri Lanka

Ms. Fe Angela M. Verzosa

University Archivist of De La Salle University. (1988-present) and former Library Director of DLSU (1994-1998); former Chief Librarian-Archivist, J.P.Laurel Memorial Foundation; former Microform Librarian, U.P. Diliman and Ateneo de Manila University; and Historiographer, Presidential Papers, in the National Library (1967-1969. She was the President of PAARL in 2000 and 2004, of PLAI (2000), Head of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Committee on Libraries and Information Services (2001-2004) , and has lectured here and abroad on both the archives and library profession.
