INTI Foundation is organising the above conference in conjunction with the 15th Anniversary Celebration of the INTI Group of Colleges. This 2-day international conference aims to provide a forum to bring together educators, researchers, technologists and the implementers of e-Education from around the world to interact and share their experience. The focus of the conference is on the effective implementation and management of e-Education.

INTI Foundation is a charitable organisation that aims to channel educational and welfare support to the Malaysian society, and has sponsored various educational forums and talks on leading concerns for the 21st Century. These include the public talk by Professor Douglas Osheroff, 1996 Nobel Physics Laureate, and a forum entitled `High Tech High Touch’ by Mr. John Naisbitt, a renowned futurist and author.

The venue for ICEE 2001 is the Mines Beach Resort & Spa, Kuala Lumpur. This resort hotel, with a tropical design overlooking a scenic 150-acre lake, is only a 20-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur. Apart from conference facilities, the resort also offers swimming, gymnasium and water taxi rides. Within walking distance from the hotel, are the Mines Shopping Fair and Mines Wonderland, a premier night park. Taxis provide rapid access to Kuala Lumpur city.

About Malaysia

Malaysia lies in the tropics. Its tropical climate which is warm and humid all year round (temperatures range from 21oC to 32oC) makes Malaysia attractive to those who enjoy its sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and picturesque islands.

Citizens from most countries do not require a visa to enter Malaysia. However, each participant must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond the intended visiting period. Registration Fee

The registration fee is RM500/USD150. Students are encouraged to participate in the conference, and a discounted rate is available upon request.

Call for Papers

ICEE 2001 will focus on the implementation and management of information and communication technologies in education with special emphasis on the quality of education and the effectiveness of learning. Topics relevant to the conference theme include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Economics and Development of e-Education Initiatives
  • Architecture and Infrastructure of e-Learning Environment
  • Optimization and Management of Learning Resources
  • Expectation, Perception and Management of Service Quality
  • Concepts and Examples of Good Practices
  • Teaching, Learning and Assessment Strategy in Virtual Classroom
  • Effective Instructional Design for Different Levels of Learners
  • Advanced Applications of Information Technology
  • Innovative Curriculum in Higher Education
  • Borderless Education and Entrepreneurial Universities

We invite contributions covering the above aspects of e-Education. Papers can be presentation of research results and case studies of individual experience and work in progress.

General Information for Authors

Participants wishing to present papers at ICEE 2001 are requested to submit their abstract and/or full paper via email as attached files, or on a 3.5" disk. The preferred formats for submission are Word document and RTF, but the Organizing Committee will try its best for other formats too. For figures, BMP, GIF and JPEG (JPG) are the preferred formats. Authors must supply separate figures in one of these formats even if they are embedded in text. In case the file(s) cannot be opened, the Organizing Committee will contact the corresponding author by e-mail.

  • Full contact details of all authors including email address, postal address, telephone and fax numbers

Papers should be of high quality, and must be original, unpublished, and not submitted elsewhere.Authors of contributed papers are asked to submit an abstract of the respective contribution to the Conference Secretariat according to the format specified below by 1st August 2001 at the latest and the submission of full-paper is by 30th September 2001.

Transport

Arrangements can be made through the hotel resort to travel from the airport to the Mines Beach Resort, and from the Mines Beach Resort to the airport. The fare is US $ 37.00/ RM 140.00 per limousine per way from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the Resort and US $ 32.00/ RM 120.00 per limousine per way from the Resort to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Accommodation and Meals

Participants from overseas will be accommodated at the Mines Beach Resort & Spa for the entire duration of the Conference. Single and double standard rooms are available. The rates are as follows:

Single room: USD 75.00/ RM 280.00

Double room: USD 85.00/ RM 305.00

The official check-in time is 1400 hours and check-out time is 1200 hours. The rates are inclusive of breakfast. Participants will also be able to use the gymnasium at the Palace of the Golden Horses, privileged entrance to Zen Spa and shuttle transfer to Kuala Lumpur City Centre at regular schedules.
