Persuasive Speech Requirements

·  Individual or in groups of 2-5 students as a symposium format; will select one topic and each person is responsible for different subtopics/ viewpoints

·  4-8 minute speech for each individual; participate in question & answer session after speeches

·  Speech must be memorized or you may use note cards (3x5 size)

·  You must have a minimum of 3 sources and they must be orally cited throughout your speech! (Author/ publication & date)

·  Incorporate a visual aid to enhance your speech (poster, chart, graph, pictures, etc.)

·  Turn in a typed outline in Monroe’s Motivated Sequence organizational format

o  Include works cited in MLA format

·  Incorporate rhetorical devices and ethos, pathos & logos into each speech

·  Symposium groups need to consider: Topic, subtopics, which group member will cover what subtopic, what order members will speak, who will moderate symposium (introduce topic and speakers)
