JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional II – Employment Services
EXEMPT (Y/N): No SHIFT: Mon-Fri 8:30a-4:00p (variable)

SUMMARY: Develops curriculum and instructs individuals with disabilities or disadvantages in the areas of employment skills, independent living skills, and social skills while supporting the individuals in their community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Assists individuals and Coordinator in formulating programmatic goals and objectives for events, projects, activities and curriculum.
· Responsible for developing and teaching a comprehensive meaningful curriculum and providing support and instruction focused on the Individual Service Plan and the Regional Centers Individual Program Plan. Curriculum includes but is not limited to; vocational and pre-vocational skills, community skills, money management, housing, and communication, current events, legislative issues, customer service, volunteerism, career exploration, etc.
· Assists with the coordination of agency events, and in developing partnerships with local employers and legislators in support of our services.
· Participates in meetings discussing individual progress, implementation of new objectives and suggestions for new and creative curriculum.
· Responsible for job skills training - mock interviews, work readiness training, resumes and applications, employment prep skills.
· Responsible for acquiring and developing volunteer sites.
· Completes monthly reports regarding job skills to pass on to Employment Specialists for job development services.
· Ensures that individuals are present and accounted for during scheduled periods of work or instruction and are performing all tasks in a safe manner; is conscious of their health and safety at all times.
· Exhibits a friendly demeanor, establishes rapport with program individuals and acts as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, etc.
· Supervises and supports individuals while they are learning and practicing skills at PathPoint sites, and in the community, including at the job site or place of residence.
· Serves as a model to the community concerning the respectful treatment of individuals with disabilities.
· May be called upon to perform or assist in performing time studies for individuals.

· Collaborates effectively with employers and other community partners to ensure that partner expectations and agreements are met. Takes appropriate corrective action when needed.
· Assists and/or develops the Individual Service Plan with the program individual’s input and assistance. Implements the ISP and provides written progress reports. Completes all paperwork in the time frame required.
· Assesses individual’s skills on a daily and weekly basis. Prepares written progress reports. Utilizes Person Centered approach and tools.
· Responsible for monitoring supplies and curriculum materials and informing supervisor when new supplies are needed.
· Attends weekly staff meetings and monthly in-service training sessions.
· Drives company vehicles and own vehicle as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Psychology or related field, or HS plus 1 year experience teaching people with developmental disabilities. Leadership abilities along with strong oral and written communication skills required. Good computer skills required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training. Must also complete medication administration, safe driver, lift van training and Core Training. Must have a valid California Driver’s License and clean DMV. Must receive criminal clearance from the DOJ.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
