PE & Sports Premium Funding 2017 – 2018

The government provides funding to primary schools to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provision.
In our school this year this is £17,200.
Our vision is to have a school:
With increased opportunities for physical exercise within the school day - before, during and after school,
Where there are opportunities for pupils to try sports that aren’t usual to the school curriculum,
To enthuse and engage those who may normally be reluctant to participate in sport,
Provide competitive opportunities for all children within our school environment or against other schools,
With improved quality of sports provision,
That enables all children to leave being able to swim 25 metres,
That develops a love of sport in children that is the start of a lifelong engagement in sport and an active, healthier lifestyle,
To continue to embed sports within the school ensuring at every opportunity that developments are self-sustaining,
Where children leave with a skills, enjoyment and confidence in PE and sport.

Trial Five a Day activities to increase physical exercise and enjoyment around curriculum activities. Five a Dav to be purchased if successful
To take advantage of shorter sessions to practice for the Milton Mile event. (29th March 2018).
Develop the number of clubs on offer. (See below). / That all children have 30 minutes physical activity during the school day.
That in addition to PE lessons a greater proportion of children engage in clubs.
That Five a Day is embedded in school life.

A club (Energy club) was run for children who engage less in sport was run last year. / To develop the engagement in sport of children who are more reluctant participants in class/after-school clubs/team events.
Lunchtime clubs with alternative sports target and engage children who don’t attend after-school clubs.

Energy Club is run throughout the year with opportunities for a wider range of children to develop confidence and leadership skills
Intra-school team events allow opportunities for all children to represent their house. / That a broader range of children take part in extra curricular clubs.
That a rotation of children who don’t normally attend after-school sports clubs attend lunchtime clubs.
That intra-school team events are held for all key sports with opportunities for all children to take part in these. / £100 for equipment
The school has benefitted from a sports teaching assistant over the past three years who has supported teachers in PE, run lunchtime and after school clubs and organised and accompanied teams to external events. The sports assistant has not been part of statutory sports provision but has enabled an increased quality of teaching in PE sessions.
Our current sports assistant has due to development of skills at the school now secured a job with an outdoor learning company enabling her to continue to promote outdoor sports. / To continue to fund a Sports Teaching Assistant to work alongside class teacher to enhance provision.
To recruit a suitable candidate to allow for personal development in teaching sports thus supporting the TA’s development and the pupils. / Sports Teaching Assistant employed to support teachers for PE and outdoor learning. / £6,000
The school currently runs after school clubs on four afternoons. / That we continue to provide a good range of after school clubs are provided foc or at reduced cost to children across the school (KS1 and 2).
Developing the range of clubs to include morning clubs and some alternative sports i.e. Badminton, running / That there are a range of sports clubs on offer after school. / £2000
School is part of the GASP provision which provides sporting opportunities to play other schools and support and advice for primary schools. / School to buy into GASP provision to enable a wide range of inter school sporting activities. / Participate in inter-school sports competition program.

Coaching opportunities for staff are made available

Financial support (subsidy and FSM support) has been made to trips in the past so that all children are able to attend / To make financial contribution to reduce the cost of residential trip for Year 5/6 pupils to enable ALL children to access. / Cost of visit kept to a maximum of £200 per child for a 3 day outdoor activity residential trip

The school has developed a good outdoor environment. Staff would benefit from further CPD to maximise use of this area. / To further provide CPD to enable staff to further develop use of the schools outdoor area. Forest School type activities. / Program of activities developed for all classes.
