Job Description for Global Health Pediatrician – Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine
Background on Program
Starting in 2007, Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine have invested significant efforts to develop pediatric hematology-oncology programs in several sub-Saharan African countries including Botswana, Malawi, Angola and Uganda through the Global HOPE Initiative (Hematology & Oncology Programs of Excellence). Over the last few years partnerships have been established to offer potentially curative therapy to patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses and to develop a multidisciplinary care model of excellence for children with cancer and blood disorders in these countries.
Job Purpose
The Texas Children’s Hospital / Baylor College of Medicine Global HOPE Initiative is recruiting for pediatricians for its sub-Saharan Africa programs to provide hematology-oncology care to children and train future local healthcare leaders.
Duration
1 year renewable contract (ideally looking for at least 2 year commitments)

The start dates for these positions are rolling
Description of Duties and Tasks
The current positions include both inpatient and outpatient pediatric hematology-oncology patient care working alongside our full-time pediatric hematologist-oncologist faculty. This position is a unique opportunity for pediatricians interested in a global health experience that provides a focus on high acuity medicine.
Work Experience
Preferred
Experience working in resource-limited setting(s) as a medical professional
Experience living or working globally
Education, Licensure
Required
Board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatrics
Proficiency in English is required.
Preferred
Master's degree in Global Studies, Epidemiology, MPH or equivalent degree
